R-78
A colossal pit was discovered a few years ago on an island far in the South of Gal Da Val. It was called The Abyss. The vertical hole has a diameter of around 55 meters at the surface and the Abyss is at least 3,300 meters deep. It possesses a unique ecosystem, wherein lie ancient and extraordinary relics that defy common sense. The government sent a lot of determined hunters in order to unveil the secrets of the Abyss, but some of them never returned. Many have challenged the mysterious abyss, pursuing hidden treasures and artifacts of immense value. The Abyss is divided into at least 6 known layers. The deeper, the more dangerous it gets. Space and time also seem to be distorted in the depths. Hence why each of those layers has a different hunter level restriction. The Abyss is huge, in your quest you will only get to explore a very small part of each layer, so you might not meet many other people. Various paranormal phenomenons have been observed in the Abyss. There is a mysterious and invisible force that applies undesirable effects on adventurers upon specific conditions. Those symptoms and triggers vary from a layer to another. They are called the Curse of the Abyss. There are only 6 known layers because going to the 6th means inevitable death. CAPITAL OF THE UNRETURNED Spoiler Layer 1: Edge of the Abyss Difficulty: Normal (Trainee & Novice hunters) Depth: 0 - 50 meters Curse: The First Warning The first layer that surrounds the Abyss. Mostly inhabited by harmless animals. You might meet quite a few rookie hunters as well there. Layer 2: Lands of Temptation Difficulty: Hard (Intermediate hunters) Depth: 50 - 200 meters Curse: Strains of Ascension The center of the Abyss here is somehow very attractive. It is as if everything is suggesting you to go into the giant pit. Only intermediate or higher hunters can go there. Layer 3: The Great Fault Difficulty: Very hard (Advanced hunters) Depth: 200 - 2,200 meters Curse: Cursed Injuries This layer is so deep that it cannot be reached by telepipes. How the lights still reach the bottom remains a mystery. Only confirmed hunters are allowed there. Layer 4: Garden of the Eternal Flowers Difficulty: Ultimate (Expert) Depth: 2,200 - 2,800 meters Curse: Mind Devourers This is the lowest layer from which hunters can still come back alive. The environment is very hostile and unhealthy. Only expert hunters are allowed to descend to this point. Layer 5: Capital of the Unreturned Difficulty: Ultimate (Expert+) Depth: 2,800 - 3,200 meters Curse: Chains of Death The largest layer horizontally with more than 10 km². Hunters who go there never come back from this layer. Their only sign of life come from the very rare ascending photon capsules intercepted at the 4th layer. Layer 6: The Final Dive Difficulty: Ultimate (Legendary) Depth: 3,200 - ???? meters Curse: The Last Breathe Only one thing is clear. If you go there, you die. That is why it is called the Final Dive. At least your name shall be remembered. You will find a lot more information about the different layers and their curses in the game quest board. The quest is not (and won't be) exactly finished. It will get released in an unstable version in a few days because I have to gauge realtime difficulty, average time to complete it in 4 players teams, eventual issues etc. So please report any bugs you find in the quest. I planned to make it a very long quest, telling the story of the Abyss, but I know many people don’t like long quests (in addition to the frustration of getting a late disconnection) so I made it much shorter than originally intended. Thus it should take less than an hour to finish it (the worst ending that is). Capital of The Unreturned is abbreviated CTU (Pronounced as "City U"). As you can guess, this is a tribute quest to Made In Abyss. But no worries, there is no manga spoiler in the quest. The quest storyline and stuff are mostly made up. Spoiler List of possible endings: Ending D1 (Partial Ending: Returning home) Complete Layer 1 on Normal - 25000 meseta Ending D2 (Partial Ending: Returning home) Complete Layer 2 on Hard - 45000 meseta Ending D3 (Partial Ending: Returning home) Complete Layer 3 on Very Hard - 95000 meseta Ending C (Bad Ending: Death) Complete the main quest on Ultimate until Layer 6 - 125750 meseta Ending B1 (Intermediate Ending: Mutation) Find Layer 7 upper part entrance (male character) - 285400 meseta Ending B2 (Intermediate Ending: Mutation) Find Layer 7 upper part entrance (female character) - 285400 meseta Ending B3 (Alternate Ending: Partial Mutation) Return from Layer 6 with Relic of Rinelia - 315250 meseta Ending A (Good Ending: Save Nanachi) Complete all main and side quests, save Nanachi and find Layer 7 lower part - 435280 meseta Ending S (Best Ending: End of the Abyss) Complete all main and side quests, save Nanachi, find Layer 7 lower part and survive until the end - 750000 meseta Additionally, S-Ending rewards you with one of the following weapons: TypeJS/Saber (1/10) TypeSW/Slicer (1/10) TypeSW/J-Sword (1/10) TypeRO/Halbert (1/10) TypeKN/Claw (1/10) TypeDS/D.Saber (1/10) TypeGU/Mechgun (1/10) TypeRI/Rifle (1/10) TypeSH/Shot (1/5) The weapon comes with a random top tiers special. (Of course, you can still change the special with a GM for 10 DTs) It comes with either hit (1/3 chance) or an attribute (1/6 for each). If Native, A.Beast, Machine or Dark: can be anything between 1% and 100%. If Hit: will be a multiple of 5% between 5% and 90%. Every value has equal odds except for 90 hit which is rarer. Note: you do not need to make sure your inventory isn't full to receive it. And finally, a hidden Photon Drop (as per every quest I made) in Layer 3. Gaz
i think the poison room is a bit over powered for Fo because of the low hp
R-78
The poison is not over powered. You probably did not understand the Curse of this layer. The Abyss Guide in quest board is a lot of reading but has some useful information in it.
IronSheik
The quest is pretty sick. There are a lot of hidden surprises especially if you're not ready for it. The first run I did was without reading the Abyss Guide, a bunch of things didn't make sense and I was trying to figure out what was happening from experience. Often times it was too late by the time I realized. Second run I read part of the guide for each layer, and it made much more sense. It's the type of quest that will surprise you the first few times, but after that, once you figure it out, it's not that bad to get through. The hidden secrets add a ton of depth to this quest. I didn't have a chance to dig deeper, but it seems each layer is hiding something or somethings, and there are multiple endings. All in all a really fun quest which adds a breath of fresh air to episode 4...and it's fantastic for grinding great numbers of enemies.
