  4. What's more frustrating than straight up not understanding a concept in mathematics is understanding one, but then making absolutely foolish errors that even a child wouldn't do. Guess I still need to get my head out of my ass :"L

  5. I petition to rename Fury of the Beast to Fury of dw.

  6. I'm kinda getting sick of the exorbitant amount of selfishness that people are exhibiting recently.  I've noticed this most in two places, but I know It's happening to a lesser degree in others.

The thing that really got me thinking was CAL's Clock Challenge.  I started working on it based on two requests that I got that sounded really interesting.  Once I had it to a good point, I asked Soly to put it on the test server so that I could test it with a full party to make improvements before I put out a full version.  I spent countless nights sitting around waiting for people to be willing to log onto the test server to help.  This didn't bother me so much as the reason I was given as to why people wouldn't come.  It was "What's the point if my real character doesn't get anything?".  It struck me because that isn't at all true.  Sure they won't get anything in an immediate sense, but it'll help with getting the quest out in a timely manner, and then the character can benefit form pre-knowledge.  Plus it should be fun.  If it isn't fun in testing, then it can be fixed to be fun.  In all of these cases, you're benefiting.  But I can understand how some people wouldn't want to give up potential gain right away, for something that they don't know they'll even like.  Or give up on plans that they'd already made.

What did bother me was that after all of that, once it was finally released on the live server, the responses I got when I asked people if they wanted to try it out with me.  The vast majority of people I asked immediately asked back about the reward.  That's pretty normal of a question in my opinion, but the fact that it mattered so much to them that they wouldn't run it got me a little confused.  Why does the reward matter so much?  The game itself should be reward enough.  That's why you 'play' a game and not 'endure' it.

This got me paying closer attention to why people were doing the things they did.  And it really all seemed to come down to 'I'll do it if it advances me or my character'.  This is a good mindset to have, you'd be doing stupid things if you didn't have it.  But at a certain point you can go too far, and I think that our community is getting perilously close.

When I first started here, I almost quit within a week.  I had actually already started looking for a new game to play when a group of players invited me to play with them.  And they helped me out by giving me things that made it possible for me to enjoy my time with them.  And I don't mean trivial things like Custom Ray v.00 or Vivienne (though people did give me those things), but things that they could just as easily have sold me.  80% of the techs I still use were given to me, Levels 29 and 30.  I still use some of the weapons and units that they gave me.  And when one of them left to move on in the world, they split up the content of their account among their friends.  An easy 70% of the equipment I'm using is borrowed or given to me.

And now I see people making "I'm quitting, selling items for X external currency", and that makes me sad.  When did the game become less about the community and fun and more about money?

@Biza was that today?  I'm still adjusting the time limit and would really appreciate some feedback.  I want a sloppy top tier team to lose in late seabed\early tower.

@mudkipzjm I mean, you aren't really suppose to complete it.  But that doesn't mean you don't "win".  The meseta reward for a single wave in ultimate (with 4 players) is 4000 (250 * difficulty * number_of_players * waves_cleared).  Which means even an average team making it only say 25 waves (4:20 min) will make out with 100,000 meseta.  You run that 3 times and you've made as much as a 40-80min IDS run, and it isn't nearly as difficult because you don't have to complete CCC to get the reward.

Sorry for multiple posting, the website is acting up and posted like 3 of my last comment, then deleted them all Dx

I agree Biza, they will always exist.  The problem is that I have trouble finding a group of people who want to play for fun and explore the game and not just to level their characters or hunt items anymore.

(The other problem I have is that everyone seems to cry for new content, but no one bothers exploring stuff I put out... But I guess that's just me being frustrated overestimating the quality of my creations.)
