... you mean they're not supposed to look like deformed black smilely-tatoo'd moais straight from my other nightmares (the main nightmares being from Cyane's idea of smexy Belras)? I am legitimately heartbroken they were just skins and not the official design. What a sheltered PSO player I was to have not noticed.

It finally happened. ;_; I went into ultimate Ruins all by my lonesome... and I LIVED kinda. This is a miracle gaiz. No, not a miracle. IT'S A PARTY. Post what you wanna do now that we can all go into ult Ruins and not die. I dunno about you, but I wanna: -Hunt a Spread Needle in peace. -Tra la la while murdering stuff. -Die by other Ruins enemies for a change (Trust me, it's happening a lot. Ironically, now that Belras are debuffed, they're the least of my concerns in the Ruins. Freakin' Claws are a bigger threat.) -Get to Dark Falz naturally i.e. not fight him in TTF, PTS, etc., and then moon him. (#raniwrath2015) Tell the world how you wanna party now that INDI BELRAS ARE FINALLY DEBUFFED GOD THANK YOU PLZ

When I first started out and I had to consult the forums on how to make a room... and talk in-game. Soloing my way to ultimate mode, with nothing to my name but store-bought equipment, a naturally-evolved mag, and my own stubbornness determination. Killing Olga on my own after all that struggle was totally worth it. Then ultimate mode kicked my ass and I had no choice but to embrace the O part of PSO. Luckily, Ultima's community has a reputation for being really really nice, as many newcomers will comment on. I got low-end rares and a Frozen Shooter just for flailing around like a derp. Meeting Stark and later Spot, and getting advice from players like Saith. That's around the time I started delving into the meta game. I started looking into max stat plans, paying attention to mechanics I otherwise brushed aside, and tagging along on harder quests and rare hunts. Now Spot is grooming me and a few other scrubs into becoming super hunters. I've gotten so much good stuff. I love you all. <3 Being a team of lv 150-somethings, and getting OKHO'd by Olga... on V. Hard. It might've been a critical hit, but it's still something we vowed not to talk about until now. Killing Sil Dragon and seeing a red box, thinking it was a Holy Ray or something, only to see it was actually an untekked Frozen Shooter that Stark placed under the corpse. And more recently: doing Weather Effects and accidentally tripping the laser traps. I didn't think it was a big deal until the traps started belching Megids at us. Thus, anyone who trips the (Megid) traps is considered to have "Pulled a Rani," or to have "Rani'd." It's not everyday you get a verb named after your derps. -
I'm making a thing for Spot. It's a lovely thing.

Towards the Future (ep 1) or Respective Tomorrow (ep 2). You'll be doing it a lot. You can also do Wrath of Forest or Path to Salvation in ep 1, but especially in PTS you might wanna bring buddies. It'll be made apparent why, especially when you enter that secret room. Get to the room with the waterfall, shimmy past the laser fence (easier with the keyboard than gamepad), take the warp, have fun. -
Last night someone wanted to try a No Mag (and I assume no mat) challenge. God speed to her because I can't imagine life without a floaty glutton shoulder cat that does useful stuff. Oh, and #BUFFEDBELRASARETHEDEVIL

I would love you forever if you could take mag raising off my hands. It's just that I'd feel guilty for making you do it for free, given how tedious and time-consuming it gets. I remember Saith (Fyrewolf5 on the forums) hosted his own mag nursery, but even though he charged PDs for his serivces, he was burned out in about a week. And trust me, you'd get A LOT of orders, moreso if you're doing it for free. You're the only person I've heard who says they actually like raising mags. In fact, it's so weird that I'm 49 percent certain you're a mutant in disguise.

I had a dream where PSO went through some overhauls, and one of the things it affected was the mag stat calculations. I checked on my mag, and saw that it had... 11 DEF. *dun dun duuuun* What a nightmare. D:

Here I am tra la la'ling through the ruins, and then some asshole Belras will appear and think, "Hmm, no. I don't like it when people are having fun," and OHKO you. Indie Belras are literally the only reason I can never solo ult ruins. It's ridiculous for one enemy to be such a blockade. And no, this bitterness totally has nothing to do with how Belras consistently ruin my Spread Needle hunts. Not at all.

I don't know what class is the "best," but Baemarl is bae and probably the best suited for solo play. Personally I think casts are a poor solo class. I mean, a good player can make it work (any class can kick ass if you know how), but RAmarl can fill many different roles if she needs to, so she's better equipped to take care of herself. She has level 20 techs, healing and buffs and debuffs, access to spiffy female-only equipment, and has decent stats all around. A RAcast is limited to traps and just being beefy enough to dish out and withstand abuse. That's valid, but I prefer a character that's more flexible -- and you need flexibility to successfuly solo. RAcast does naturally see traps, and is immune to paralysis and poison, but those are just minor conveniences. All classes can use Trap Visions to see traps, and status ailments like Poison are easily cured with Anti. Freeze and Shock (which the "computer room boss" Vol Opt spams) wear off on their own, and there are units you can equip to make you immune. Since you insist on soloing it for the most part, you may wanna take Cyane's advice and go with Purplenum. Much of what she listed is Standard Ranger Equipment , and you don't need another player's ID to find them. Never leave home without a Frozen Shooter. Freezing enemies in their tracks nearly 100 percent of the time is super handy when you're by yourself. I also recommend making another character that's Greenill so you can, like Cyane also mentions, farm power/luck/mind materials. With rare monster appearances frequently increased, a single Wrath of Forest run can net you a good handful of power mats and a few mind mats. -

Last night we beat the Sil Dragon, and I saw a red box. I got excited, thinking it was a Holy Ray or something, and... it was an untekked Frozen Shooter that Stork placed under the dragon's corpse. Stork exploited my weakness for red boxes, that buttface. >:[

Anyone have a link for how to build a mind mag? Y'know, which items to give it when it has [x amount of stats]. I mean, I could just look at feeding charts, but I'm a notorious screwup so I'd rather play it safe. (Raising mags is the worst.)

So feed it nothing but antiparalysis for all its evolutions? No mono/difluids or anything? I know that once I give it a mag cell, feeding will be smoother since it's faster and most items only increase one stat at a time. For PBs I might have to swap it to another character somewhere down the line. If I purely feed it on my Purplenum FOmarl (as was my plan), it looks like it'll get a repeat of Twins.

Ultimate Difficulty... too difficult for newcomers?

Saith I really wish I had known those tips when I first started out. It'd have saved me some trouble early on so I wouldn't have had to hover around V. Hard and occasionally dipping my toe in Ultimate and going ehhhh too cold *hides* until someone gave me a Frozen Shooter. There really should be some kind of "PSO, Ultimate Mode, and You" guide around here for newbs just starting to get whomped by Bartles. -

Honestly, anything that's not store-bought equipment can get you by on Ultimate. Even on the original PSO on Dreamcast, store-bought equipment won't cut it on Ultimate. And that's where the Catch-22 is: you need good equipment to survive on Ultimate, but Ultimate drops the good equipment. In my experience, many players are willing to donate some low-end rares to tide you over until you can find the good stuff. I received some hand-me-downs to get me started on Ultimate, and now I do the same for newcomers. You need rares to get rares, but luckily Ultima's community is notoriously generous (trust me, I've gotten multiple comments from newcomers about how NICE we are. They're right ). I'm not an expert on equipment, but I know some Standard Player Gear is Frozen Shooters for rangers, units like God/Power or Heavenly/Battle, etc etc. You may wanna ask around, but Ultima is a place where you can kind of expect someone to take pity on you and throw you a cheap goodie. (You may not wanna directly ask them, though... it might sound rude to beg.) -

I seriously wanna host an easter egg hunt for newbies. I hide a bunch of low-end rares around the Forest or something, and the scrubs can look for them. It'll be a blast. :3
