  1. Hello all, This is a quick start post I have compiled for new people and individuals that may require a little extra information. Good luck with your hunts and if you are new here welcome to the server! IMPORTANT NOTE!!! IF YOU CANNOT MOVE PRESS F11!!!! LEVEL UP FAST: Sometimes 5X Experience is enabled making this even faster. Fastest way to level up is by spamming TTF VR (toward the future) until you are level 100. Then you can unlock CCA (central control area) by pressing the 3 switches at jungle-, mountain- and seaside area. Once you have unlocked cca you can rush/kill Gal Gryphon over and over again. He gives you the highest exp in game. do that till lvl 200 Max stats calculator (where you can make a plan for your lvl200 character): https://www.phantasystaronline.net/forum/index.php?/tool-box/calculators/max-stats/ COMMANDS: Usefull commands you will need! you can just enter them into the chat by pressing ENTER: /dropstyle 1 will change the dropstyle to individual drops so nobody will be able to steal your drops. you should do that asap! /bank willl switch to a shared bank which can be access by all your 4 character on your account. execute it again to get back to your character bank /lobby will exit every quest and put you to the lobby /map will maximize the map if you need to check for something. execute it again to minimize /hh will check if happy hour is active und how long it remains. happy hour (180 min duration) gives you a 3x times increased droprate. 1/90 will be 1/30 while hh is active all the other commands are here: https://www.phantasystaronline.net/forum/index.php?/tool-box/commands/ TRADING: People on this server love to trade items. there is a whole market in the forum where you can sell/buy stuff. There are 2 currencies accepted by the players: Photon Drops (PDs)(THESE CAN BE FARMED IN GAME) and Donation Tickets (DTs) (THESE ARE FORUM ACCOUNT ONLY) PDs drop while playing or you can collect them at some quests ie. WOI EP2. DTs you can get by donating real money to the server or selling items. 1$ = 1 DT = 7.7 or 8 PDs Subject to negotiation not set in stone. DTs are the ultimate currency. There are items that go for 2 PDs and others go for 500 DTs You can always ask at the chat box on the start page of the forum if you want to know the price of any item. 2. I'm going to request this again in this thread, please add resistances to the Ultima stat calculator. they are much more important than def or evp for surviving the quests needed to farm gear on this server. And right now there's no way to know which gear is best for what quest other than tedious inventory management.

  3. Is that even necessary? There will always be stuff to add / edit in this guide as it will never be perfectly complete. And it's prone to changes with server news. I mean we never deleted comments on any other guides and we are not going to delete every single new comment or lock this topic, are we? I don't see any problem leaving them here. A couple questions I would ask if I were a noob reading your guide: Do I have to press all the switches to unlock CCA or do I just need to be the room host? (need to press them yourself in any room same difficulty and mode, only one person can do it per run) I don't know how to make a max stats plan, are there any already made plans? (yes) So EXP x5 is random but how about EXP x3 and x2? (X3 is until lvl 160, X2 is after lvl 160, and those boosts are not stacked with X5) Does /dropstyle 1 have any drawback? (every additional player in the party reduces the DAR - Drop Anything Rate from monsters) What is WOI? (World Of Illusion, although I don't recommend any beginner to play that, better use the other quests on normal for PDs) Now some other suggestions: Please don't use yellow background color, it's unreadable with dark theme forum. Then this can be kinda misleading: with that you might get new people to think 1 dt = 7 pd is a rate set in stone while it isn't. This rate is actually unfair: gonna quote myself for the explanations: Useful abbreviations for everything: (Too many new people get confused by some usual abbreviations like DM, ROCT etc. Everything is here) The most important part about this is how you actually unlock it. You briefly mentionned it in the video description but you should also tell what exactly one has to do in the Tower: talking to Paganini at quest start and after collecting the data from the terminal. This is actually a good one, and it is up to date @C01D1 You should as well talk about the Green Names: how easy it becomes to farm stuff like Addslots, Trigrinders etc thanks to it, and that it's random and decided by Larva only since it's frequently asked "green name when". Could also tell what you can do with DTs and what you should not do (like buying anything from the Donation list) Just saying I know some people who felt really frustrated getting lvl 200 too fast thanks to CCA farming while their gear didn't follow their levels grind, and literally left Ultima because of that. I think CCA grind should be used only if you really need levels. Some people don't like when it's too fast, and for those people, /exp 0 command exists. Mention /changesectionid because some people just remake their chars when they realize they didn't get a good ID. Don't forget the 3 months use limit (yeah I've seen people change their ID or name to check if that was working and they were stuck with the unwanted ID / name) /magtimer can also help for early mag feeding. Levels requirements: Hard - episode I : 20 Hard - episode II : 30 Hard - episode IV : 40 Very Hard - episode I : 50 Very Hard - episode II : 60 Very Hard - episode IV : 70 Ultimate - episode I : 90 Ultimate - episode II : 100 Ultimate - episode IV : 110 Ultima classes max stats change (compared to vanilla): ATP : +100 DFP : +100 MST : +100 (for non casts) ATA : +10 EVP : +30 There are many other useful guides for noobs that got lost in the forums, such as this one for Enemy parts: So many newbs ask why they can't get past Forest story mode quests, as Government part is not obvious at all. If you also feel like making a video tutorial for farming and using Photon crystal to add hit on enemy parts, that could help noobs since this can be easily done on normal. Oh and usual trap: Hit F11 if you cannot move I might post more suggestions later.

  5. I'll look into it, if you check the source files aka (https://www.phantasystaronline.net/pages/tool-box/calculators/max-stats/data-items.js) I already have the resistances on armor stuff (although it might not be 100% accurate since some things are hardcoded) It not having been done before doesn't meant we can't... but I guess since is a forum post not by ourselves (staff/server) then it doesn't matter much... Tbh, just don't use any background color at all, better color the text itself and bold it.

  6. I never said you did. But I requested it in the max stats guide and I don't think anyone saw it. And since this is a thread about making the forums more beginner friendly, I thought the suggestion would fit here. The calculator is great, I use it all the time, but I think adding resistances would make it even better and more useful. It would also reinforce to new players how important resistances are. Something that I didn't realize until a few hundred hours into the game and something I frequently have to teach other players about

  8. If you are underleveled and a FO or RAmarl your HP is going to really let you down. However I get what you are saying. The amount you give up padding towards those resistances is kind of crazy however, (EDK has some better custom options) I guess you could also argue that Grants from Falz can be a 1 Hit KO with light resistance. I might be able to make a video or something I will see what I can do.

  9. Likes: 1) Community in general - To be honest that's the main reason that kept me active in this server after so many years. 2) Easy to reach out everyone through forums - Even tho the forum is not a Ultima's exclusive, i like how people use it. If people use it so actively, shows that the forum is well structured and welcoming for communication. 3) Buffed Ep 2 - yeah, probably not a popular opinion, but i like the Ep2 buffed aspect of the server. Can be challenging and sometimes punishing in terms of experience (especially for little newbies, but also sometimes frustrating for experienced players with high end gear due the lack of consistency ), but that incentives you to explore new solutions in terms of gear, mechanics and strategies. Ep2 was the reason that made me learn about SNS glitching when i started and in some way, not being exclusively a hostage of high end gear with max stats when i couldn't afford. 4) Variety - The variety of custom gear is one of the main reasons i chose to start my experience in ultima and not in any other active server at that time. The feeling of desiring to have a 100 souls, a lindcray or even a Asteron Striker when i started playing was great, because they were strong weapons and looked very cool. Exploring all the Ultima's unique weapons was a very nice experience for me personally. 5) Exclusive event drops - Probably another unpopular opinion, but i really love the feeling of some high end items being dropped only during specific times of the year. Makes you desire them and in some way makes your PSO experience longer. If PGF was all year around, that wouldn't be so special and i probably would lose the interest on grinding it after a while, or wouldn't feel the experience so special after getting my first. It can be frustrating to have PGF dropped only during 3 weeks a year, specially during xmas time where we are more busy, but overall i think it's a postive aspect of the game. Dislikes: 1) Leadership - I already expressed my opinion about this countless times on previous topics so i'm not repeating myself. 2) Lack/Poor Communication and difficulties in connection between staff and community - With some exceptions, this is my biggest turn off in this server. Still i have to admit that some things have got better in the last months, but there is still a big space to improve. 3) Lack of direction or philosophy for the server - This happens alot in the "creative department" of the server. Example: Lindcray was introduced a long time ago and it's arguably an overpowered single target weapon for DPS with a irrelevant drawback (TP consuming). After that, it's hard to make any similar interesting weapon, because will be either weaker and uninteresting or power creeped and even more busted. I'm fine with it, but then Serene Swan cames out (and probably the only interesting weapon introduced after Bomb-Chu that really add something new to your playstyle) and we all know how that ended lol. The fact that the main admin wanted to nerf it after introducing SS in the game, claiming that the weapon was too overpower (and for FO lol), shows either he doesn't understand anything about the game or lacks a direction or philosophy for his own server. The way that Serene Swan was handled also reinforces my point 2). The HH lack of criteria, between most GM is also an example of my point. 4) Not introducing newbies in a friendly way - i saw people making this point and i completely agree. It can be hard for a new brand player to know where everything is and the tools that exist etc. I don't even have to talk about the people that donated and wanted to change their DTs for items in the donation items list with absurd prices. 5) Overly Defensive atitude of some staff member when the server or them are negatively criticized - Everything is labbled as drama and you don't have the oportunity to express your views and opinions to improve on a certain matter even if it's in a civil, polite and fair way. The debate is not incentivited, but rather ignored and destroyed by the basic and vulgar demagogy as usual - "Drama". This had happened in the Serene Swan topic for example, but it has been always like this in major topics where the community tries to express their concerns. Solutions: Well i think most of my turn offs are self explanatory in terms of solutions so i won't develop too much my resoning on this. 1) Leadership - Transfer the Leadership to someone that is more suited and has time to put on it. 2) Find people that have better communication skills that are more interest and have more understanding of PSO. Some staff member here are doing nothing for a very long period of time and lack the empathic or social/communicating intelligence. Shoutout to R-78 that was the best decision to include in the staff. People like her is what i personally think it's suited for a GM. 3) This mostly depends on the person that makes the decisions. If he is not interest on improving this point, there are no miracles. 4) A complete newbies introduction guide about this topic with the all information so nobody feels lost. 5) Again, similar to point 2). Change the people that are on the staff. Bring people that better understand the game and with better social/communication skills that have enough real life time to dedicate a couple of hours per day to manage the community and all the aspects of the server in an organized way. PSO and Ultima won't last forever, but since we are here now, at least we could have a better experience in all this aspects. Also a thought or two about my 5) like point about the event drops - We all know its very frustrating of not getting a PGF during the 3 weeks period of the year. This could be "fixed" (or at least more interesting in my opinion) if we could have an weekend only event during a random weekend of the year (out of the PGF season) where it dropped and people that didn't get a PGF would have another change during a weekend to get. It doesn't even have to be PGF but can be any other event item, or even some sort of drop that only dropped during that weekend and you could redeem for another event only items. I don't know if the concept is tecnically viable, but it would at least spice things up and bring more interest to people in different time frames.

  10. My likes about Ultima: Different angle of play, quests I cannot find elsewhere, different meta strategies. My dislikes about Ultima: Feels outdated, never being fine-tuned where flaws are made, not welcoming to newer players. Solution:
