  3. wouldn't matter the damage numbers only need to work on each client, mismatch would show but it would be purely visual, as i said this is the best case scenario for stat alteration for this silly prestige crap basically not ideal but nothing much else will work anyway. when the kill packet is sent the monster dies regardless of it's hp. A way to counter this would be to restrict prestige players to only play with other prestige players but hell then what's the point, would be better off setting this up for crack mode then prestige in my opinion if you where going to go to this trouble. It's not a file in the client anyway. welcome packet files files are loaded directly in to the primary memory they are only files in the console versions and in the server itself. Basically the client knows nothing about prestige, holds no variables for it we can use, and any work like that would require excessive assembly rewriting the likes of which no one will ever want to do. There is something i can say i never understood from sega though. Why the ranger class has such high hp being as safe as they are, i mean compared to the hunter class.
  4. no you really shouldn't this isn't my server. I just state what can and can't be done from a feasibility standpoint. Also a lot of modifications use my work so sometimes i have to weigh in to provide information or clarity. I'd rather not get involved in the internal politics of another server on what defines balance.

I'll give you an example of what could be done: The playerlvltbl.prs is sent in the welcome packet it controls the stat gains per level 1-200. it's the file that for example gives you 2 atp when you level up. Now what you could do is increase the gap between min and max stats so that you cannot max out a char with materials, then send a different welcome packet to prestige players which closes the gap letting them max stats easier. as i pointed out above this is probably beyond the people doing this if they can't even get prestige working. Their prestige system as far as i know is all quest unlock based, and hard enforced equip caps by the server in the form of special items and quests. Oh and a coloured name ie not worth doing really, i'm sure choko could tell you more. Also stop using negative stats in equipment. Pso doesn't like it. especially HP.
  8. The exe defines the max stats, the base stats and the material limits. My patcher allows changing of all these values it is how they where raised before. MY POINT IS THIS: The client knows nothing about prestige. The server can't control the hard caps when it comes to materials. they are 3 fixed numbers in the client . This controls the grey out on the client to stop you using more then your class allows human newman or cast. Now then you can retardly try to control them using a soft cap, this is both counter intuitive to new players who will try and use materials and get d/ced and probably pissed off but also looks untidy Now lets talk about the max stat caps. these again are fixed numbers in the client. (would you like to see some screens from my patcher to prove this?). If the client locks something down, the server cannot control it. the one exception would be the base 200 stats, but this would take monumental recoding in the welcome packet to pull off, and well you can't even get a simple reset to lvl 1 and colour name code working right no offense.
  9. well i guess no one noticed my char was level 900+ on schtserv, drawback with this is hp and tp are calculated via level (as well as mst for tp) anyway my ramar if you want an example has around 3kish hp and 1.5kish tp base with no material usuage. Kajex careful with what you promise people, there are things that can and can't be done. As well as things which probably should be avoided doing.

I have one thing to say and it's nothing to do with rebalance, fuck psow, all they do is snub those of us who actually bother to keep this game alive for mostly dick sucking reasons none of which actually make any sense. Client controls the stats, both max mats and base as well as the mat usage hard cap, unless prestige users use a different client this will never happen, a soft cap d/cing users for over using materials also makes no sense.
  12. Have you tried forwarding ports the loader uses? Tbh tbis wouldnt stop you going online, nor launching the game, game still launches if the loader reports it can't connect. Your issue us elsewhere, dunno what this resolution glitch is you're refering to either. The only problem with resolutions is if some idiot picks one they can't use. That's not a glitch.

Schtserv has a dynamic banner system which has a fixed list of items which always give a banner and then if an item has greater then 45% hit (ie 50%, so 60% when tekked) it will show too no matter what it is. It also announces level 30 techs too. I have showed larva an example of how to create a more useful banners system because as of now, even though kajex has suggested new ones, the code just isn't up to the task and would just be a complete hard coded mess. If they takeup my suggestion list could be external to the server and easy to edit. Those things you see on gc are converted global announces to system text, since gc can't see the banner.

  18. *Custom Item Skins. To use custom weapon skins you have to first put them in an afs file (you should know how to do this anyway if you are attempting this), "ItemTextureEp4.afs". Now take your ItemTextureEp4.afs and rename it to ItemTextureEp4.pat. Inside your data folder in the pso directory, you should find a folder called custom, place the ItemTextureEp4.pat in here. once you've done that, start up the game via online.exe and select options. Under customisation you should see something called Texture with a drop down box, select custom and save your options. the launcher should now report in it's log that it has patched the custom texture file. After this you should be good to go. Note using a custom texture file means it is your responsibility to keep it up to date to avoid crashs caused when new items are added to the client.
  19. the rainbow has nothing to do with me, crono lol... As for the inferno claw it's actually balanced by it's variable atp, which basically makes it largely unreliable as a weapon. So it's no where near as broken as a ton of the ultima items actually. It's 1-5000 atp, so it can hit for anything inbetween. means it's a claw weapon which when you average out it's damage it's nothing special compared to other multi target dps items. So actually it's larva who makes hilariously broken items and I actually balance things.

Ultima has a problem, more to do with never ending buff cycles, because everything has to be better or stronger then the last thing, couple this with meaningless drop rates, and exp rates that are too generous, and if I throw in some dumb quest edits, cough dmd cough and you end up with a largely hollow experience of why people really play this game. Now I'm not saying what people say they want, more what makes the game so addictive, all the factors I havd mentioned, while they cater to peoples wants ultimately hurt the enjoyment of the game itself. It's likd getting everything you want, you soon lose interest. Just my 10cents anyway.
