While phantasy star online is a great mmorpg, I'm not sure pso is a good enough game to stand on its own for a whole 13 years without becoming stale for most people, very very few games have ever achieved that level of perfection. And specifically pertaining to pso, "pure" is a very odd way to describe the game; pso has been constantly evolving massively since its release. If you want to talk about pure pso, where is it even possible to draw the line? Ep 4 was only for blue burst and is where are lot of the really good items in the game come from, but wasn't part of most releases of the game. One could argue that ep 4 gear broke the game and shouldn't be there, and push for an xbox/gamecube purist view. Or you could go farther back and be a dreamcast purist and say ep 2 was completely unnecessary and introduced dumb concepts like mixing enemy types in the areas and practically no quest contributions to the game and was completely unnecessary. Hell, why not just say v2 was unnecessary and go for purist v1 gameplay with no ultimate difficulty, level cap of 100, and only 9 classes instead of 12 which barely resemble their posbb counterparts? The constant evolution of pso through its many releases is the most essential reason why it has had such a long lifespan and attracted such a wide following. This game would have been dead a decade ago if not for these evolutions. I for one am extremely grateful and happy that a server such as this one continues to breathe life into the game in the same tradition as sega and sonicteam did for many years, and give its users not just the ability to play pso, but also a reason to keep playing.
  2. In that case, if you don't care about getting one with stats you can also get one from Black Paper Deal 1 Very Hard Rappy Route. It costs 1 photon crystal to play the quest (ep 4 one player mode) and you can get the crystals from any ep 4 rare monster on normal or hard (dorphon eclair, pazuzu, merissa aa). MA4DMD quest has set spawns, and the 5th dorphon is always a dorphon eclair, so it's possible to spam that quest to farm up a few pc to play bpd with.
  3. PoD is the fastest way to an ep 4 boss by far (Shambertin or rare spawn Kondrieu), a fast run can be as short as 10-15 minutes. Government 9-8 is the fastest way to get to Saint Milion (still has chance of Kondrieu), the regular ep 4 boss, it's a 30-40+ minute quest. Regular sub desert is highly unadvised, it can take you more than 1hr+ to reach the boss (Saint Milion or Kondrieu). Currently Saint Milion drops the Blood Sword for summer event, a powerful spirit saber for forces. Pinkal id is the only confirmed id so far. He may drop the Soul Booster to make 100 souls on some other id, nothing confirmed yet. If you wish to get one of these, I recommend you complete the government quests up to 9-8 on normal to unlock for all difficulties, which should only take about 2 or so hours, regular sub-desert is not worth running. If you just want Kondrieu and don't care about the blood sword / soul booster do PoD.

So for example, say enemy has 50 edk, and hell has 93% proc rate. (93% - 50 edk) = 43% chance to kill if hit with nothing on [(93% - 50 edk) x1.5] = 64.5% chance to kill if hit with v501 on [(93% - 50 edk) x 2] = 86% chance to kill if hit with v502 on Or for arrest, say enemy has 50 esp, and arrest has 80% proc rate. (80% - 50 esp) = 30% chance to arrest if hit with nothing on [(80% + 30%)- 50 esp] = 60% chance to arrest if hit with nothing on as android [(80% - 50 esp) x 1.5]= 45% chance to arrest if hit with v501/v502 on {[(80% + 30%) - 50 esp] x 1.5} = 90% chance to arrest if hit with v501/v502 on as android PoD is the Point of Disaster quest in ep 4. It is found under the Ultima Category. When doing PoD, instead of encountering Saint Milion the regular ep 4 boss, you encounter Shambertin, a much stronger version of the ep 4 boss specific only to PoD quest whom is also extra buffed on this server. Kondrieu is the rare monster version of the ep 4 boss, he randomly spawns whenever you fight the ep 4 boss, regardless of quest or lack thereof. Kondreiu has green crystals, a very thick horned skull, and has the same elemental resists as Saint Milion (red crystals, webbed-like mouth gills), and also not nearly as strong as Shambertin (the PoD only ep 4 boss, blue crystals, smallish spiral face horns) since Shamby is buffed here but Kondy is not.

    Broken quests.

    L33t vs Ultima w1 has the same issue as weather effects where you cant talk to the guild lady at the end for a reward and have to /lobby out.

There is a bug on this server where all bosses will drop a saber sometimes instead of some random other item, but it does not affect how often their rare drop drops, so it isn't a huge priority to fix. The drops chart button at the top of the page is broken, it links to a table that still has Easter event drops on it, and does not have DAR (drop anything rate) factored in so the rates shown are misleading and pretty much useless. Use this backup table instead ( www.phantasystaronline.net/test/newsite/droptable.php ), which does have the DAR factored in so you can have more realistic rates of how often an item will drop. Summer Event drops have not been revealed yet (that list in the thread is last years monsters), when they do get revealed larva will post in the event thread, hopefully remembering to click the include dar button, and upload a new table for the button link at the top of the page.
  7. My personal plan is to use Cent/Battle and 1 Centurion/Arms on my huney, instead of Cent/Battle and 2 adepts. Cent/Arms will be in the Triforce event, the next event after Summer event. Mats: 35 luck, 109 power, 6 mind OR 35luck 104power 11mind (for custom mags) mag: 5 def / 142 pow / 53 dex / 0 mind OR 0/147/53/0 custom mag (optional mst maxing support mag, with centurion/mind) mag: 5 def / 0 pow / 53 dex / 142 mind OR 0/0/53/147 custom mag I put in the mind mats so huney can equip Clio with at least v801 on (gives 5 mst, can use without v801 with custom mag). With custom mag and Cent/Mind on, you are 1mst off max (not counting v801 or any shield bonus). I really wanted to make a plan with 1 unit for stats instead of 2. With 1 adept closest you can get is -30 atp max ata max lck, or v101+adept to -1 atp, so adepts really have to be a 2 unit plan if you want to use cent/battle. Most of the time I try to use adept over over cent/arms in my plans, even if just for the extra resists, but I just couldn't justify either using 2 units or being 30 off atp max to myself. If you specifically want to use a lot of spirit special weapons with 2 adepts on for the tp reduction, then an argument could be made that plan soly posted is better, since it would have battle unit+ 2 adepts + 1 free unit for that setup rather than battle unit + cent/arms + 2 adepts with no free units, but I think using 2 adepts for tp reduction is overkill and just delaying the inevitable because you will probably have a geist weapon on hand to steal back some tp anyway. You can get away with using 1 adept for tp reduction instead of 2 to still have a free slot, and it won't make too much of a difference.

Black King Bar atp+590-600, ata+43, max grind 80, special; unreduced devil req atp 800 Hunters Only Monkey King Bar atp+380-390, ata+41, max grind 25, special: devil, req atp 500 Hunters and Rangers So it's a 210 weapon atp (affected by attribute %s) and 55 grind (not affected by attribute %s) difference for a 320 total atp difference, and 2 ata more. Special should also be unreduced on mkb as it is a 10 star weapon.

  12. I just had something similar happen to me. I tried to withdraw 99 mind materials from one of my bank chars, and he only withdrew 95 and the other 4 disappeared. Had to get 4 off my other char to make it a full stack again.
  13. Note that the Level 35 evolution often follows whatever class you used at the level 10 evolution for some reason, rather than the class currently feeding it. If you want to evolve it to tellusis at 55 with soly's plan, start the mag on a hunter or force. A ranger started mag will become mitra at 35, which feeds dex very quickly with antiparalysis +20 dex every time, but this means you would have to evolve to kama for tellusis a bit later because of the extra dex gained, around 75 rather than at 55.
  14. If you character was actually saying them before, are you sure you didn't accidentally have a space in front of them? It's easy to mistakenly double press spacebar, and that's what happens when you say for example " /bank" instead of just "/bank". I've used the zelda ogg pack myself and didn't have any issue with it, it only replaces music files.
  15. There is no need to fix this. This is so that even if the name you want doesn't give you the section id you want, you can make spaces until the 9th character and have a hidden 10th character influence your id to give you the one you do want.
  16. Soly already answered the luck materials, but the ep 4 mag guide on pso-world (http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=2343) is complete afaik. I think only two mags have additional bonuses, first the Moro mag, when equipped with Tension Blaster (christmas event) lck becomes 100, and the Tellusis mag (when equipped with excalibur, edk+10 and elt +10, devil/battle speed if no other battle unit used). Neither of the extra boosts are that useful because you should be aiming for 100 luck in your plans anyway, and the tellusis boost is really only the edk that matters, and requires you to keep excalibur equipped for the effect, so it's not very practical. However Tellusis is still an extremely good mag that most people go for because it has Triple Invincibility as its assists, and I think it tends to activate invincibility more often than other mags. The Dragon Scale for it drops from all ep 4 bosses on normal and hard (except for hard kondrieu dropping Tyrell's Parasol). Ultima only mags include: Elenor mag (Ashura Cell, Holiday Rappy drop, can be used on ANY mag, even another Elenor. Notable use being able to level a mag to 10 to recieve 1st photon blast, and then being able to raise it as a single stat mag, just like a console mag would be, but it actually has a pb) Ultima Mag (Ultima's Engine, Aniversary Event, is a copy of the Yahoo mag but it says Ultima instead, can also be used on ANY mag and can similarly become a single stat mag with 1 pb)

  20. I'm not entirely sure where bamboo spear is from, but it is on the donation list; I just put it in for completion sake since it has spirit special. Some are Christmas Event drops like Crazy Tune and Chameleon Scythe were. Some are in Momkas shop (item tickets dropped from Easter Rappies) like Getsugasan and Nice shot are. And then there are some as quest rewards from the Mop Up quests, like Tree Clippers (ep 4 mu2) and Synthesizer (ep 4 mu3). edit: Oh I forgot to mention Master Sword (ATP 700-780, ATA 35, ALL STATS 20 max grinder 70, special is TJS special), Triforce Event Stealth Sword (ATP+300-350, ATA+ 50, DFP +15,special is Demon) Triforce Event Sword of Ultima (Atp +450, ata +15, max grinder 50 any special can be added by a GM) Aniversary Event .

Besides the previous mentioned Asteron Belt for males (christmas event) and the excellent Parasols for females (spirit, beserk, and charge, boost buff/support range), and excal, there is also (in order of general usefulness): Ultima Reaper (666 atp all classes, extended range, 15 targets, unreduced hell Halloween Event) Charge Gugnir (Do not understimate charge gugnir. With strong buffs this can deal out some great damage) Type SW/Slicer (From MA3V2 with males :http://schtserv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2053) Type HA/Halbert (beach laughter rangers, http://schtserv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=41660) Bamboo Spear (Spirit, but low ata) and many of the novelty weapons (things like crazy tune, chameleon scythe, getsugasan, etc) Soul Eater drops in the christmas event, so it is possible to get ones with stats including hit. I think that's most of them. I have 45 and 40 hit charge gugnirs from the shop if you need one.
  22. Well the event that will be starting soon is the Summer Event, one of the major events. Exactly when it will start nobody really knows, but Larva says it will be soon. During major events, several special drops will be put in place on certain monsters. Which monsters and ids generally is not revealed at the start of the event, but is eventually revealed. If you are on late at night then sometimes a few hints may float around. For the last few days of the event the drops are usually lowered to be a bit easier. There's not much you can do about it at the moment other than get your levels up to be ready to farm for the event. At the start of the event you basically just have to farm quests with lots of different monsters/try last years monsters, or take advantage of x5 and rares (see last paragraph). There are also the mini events. These are often spur of the moment, and come in various forms, trivia, word searches, bring some amount of specific items for a reward, etc. These you'll just have to keep an eye out for in game and forums. Some last for a few days (item collection/special adding), some a few hours, some only a few minutes (trivia). The special adding events can be very good events to be prepared for, such as Kajex's Claw & Fake Flowen's event, and Serverus' Yasminkov event (Yasminkov 9000s with specials are some of the best weapons in the game). There are also many other smaller things that happen. First off there is x5 exp events. It will likely be on for some part of the summer event, but can happen without major events. Also there is Rare Monster events (x5 rare monster appearence). Rare monsters is signified by everyone having a colored name in the lobby, usually green, and can also occur without major events. Happy Hour is x3 drops for 3 hours, signified by pink trees and red&white flag in lobby, along with a banner every 30 minutes stating time remaining. There is no schedule for this, it's just whenever they feel like it.
  23. Your plan uses 2 units for stats and a battle unit. Mine uses 1 unit for stats and a battle unit. I can therefore put on a unit to get the gold numbers and be exactly like your plan, only superior because I can also optionally drop that unit whenever I want for 2 utility units and I only lose 11 atp, a negligible amount of damage, whereas you would lose 27 atp and 30 lck an actually fairly large amount of damage(mostly from the luck).

There technically is an alternative plan to this for using Centurion/Arms. 111 power mats 35 luck mats 4 extra materials Mag 15 / 185 / 0 / 0 Cent/Battle + Centurion/Arms I use my plan which Soly quoted because I value 6 resist all over 11 atp. Also the mag is much much much more difficult and tediously annoying to raise for cent/arms plan, would take several hundred monomates just to reach level 50 (for mags started to lvl 10 evolution on hunter force, needs 13 monomates to 10, then 33 dimates, then 264 monomates to reach 50 with 15 def. for mag started to lvl 10 evolution on ranger, needs 13 monomates to 10, then 33 dimates, then 615 monomates to 50, but has 14 def instead of 15. If using the bank/logoff trick def could be squeezed down to 12, but triples your feeding time). 4 extra materials won't have any practical use either. I gladly sacrifice 2 (no buff) to10 (pb chain) damage from the 11 atp to have 6 extra resist all and not go through that hassle.
  25. There is a third page, but it is hidden. To get to the third page you have to go to Next Page (while on page 1) and then Previous Page (while on page 2). The third page is between page one and two. If you hit next page on page two it just goes back to page one.
