  1. I like martikush. Another player as bitter and devote to the subject of pso as me.
  2. Finally finished Sweep-Up #3 2P. It's far from perfect, but we're looking to move on once we got 4'4x.

  3. That’s not a custom weapon. It’s an S-Rank Needle with Hell. Available to any player who completes challenge mode and collects PDs to use at Gallons Shop. You can also get one with Mr. Nakas Business Cards, DTs, or player trading.
  4. This is one of the slowest ways to play that will make all runs you’re in cumbersome. Don’t do this lol
  5. You can see in the “Notes:” column that some mags simply can’t have PBs. Not a bug of the game. https://wiki.pioneer2.net/index.php?title=Mags
  6. No, it’s always been on Ultima. It’s probably honestly better than it was in 2010 due to upgraded host quality and slightly cleaner code. Enemies can “desync” and be in different places and doing different animations on different clients. This is present on EVERY form of PSO.
  7. I wouldn’t even bother comparing the two games in this way. Damage cancel is an intended “feature” to a degree. It’s just a little fucked up on Ultima.
  8. Latest run, we had fun. It's not perfect as it never is, but this one pretty fun compared to last posted video.

  9. DMC is short for "damage cancel". It happens on all version of PSO to some degree all the way back to the GameCube version (I am not familiar enough with Dreamcast V1 / V2 to talk about those versions) and is related to the way the server receives incoming damage packets from the client(s). While not a bug, there's varying degrees of intensity of DMC among the existing servers. I personally use GameCube as a metric for what it's supposed to feel like. However Ultima has the worst DMC of all the servers I have played on to the point where you could call it a bug. It's completely nullified on Ultima when more than one person attacks the same enemy and it's beyond annoying. Pretty much every combat action can cause DMC on Ultima. Normal, hard, and special attacks, traps, techs including Zalure / Jellen. There's solutions for this that for one reason or another haven't been implemented on Ultima. There will always be some limitations when it comes to a "DMC patch" (as it's called on Unseen / Ephinea) such as two players starting a Charge Vulcan combo at nearly the exact same time. Some amount of damage in that situation will be cancelled on those servers, but not whole combos like here. I can't speak too much for the Ephinea DMC patch, but it's probably nearly as good as the Unseen patch that doesn't have damage cancel on traps, techs (including Jellen / Zalure), and instead of actually canceling attacks that are done at the exact same time it just accepts the higher damage numbers and cancels who ever is weaker, but if the attacks are staggered at pretty much any time interval it will accept both damage sources. This is a little more robust than the way GameCube works, but GameCube pretty much just has restrictions of waiting the slightest bit of time between these actions to avoid cancelling damage. However, it's a lot easier to "wait" that time there because characters move slower (walk before run) as well as attack slower (25% attack speed boost only)
  10. IronSheiks comment is probably the most in-depth on how to get your character in the position to be better, and in general become more comfortable with the environment that is Ultima. I'd definitely recommend reading his comment in full. Almost all these posts are about weapons / gear, but not actually about how to play better. A little can carry you a long lay way on Ultima. Wade alluded to that with this comment. Ultima for starters does not have a viable One-Player Mode so playing alone here is something meant more for people that are geared / experienced / familiar. It's a bit of a handicap on early player development especially if you're starting from square one (which is totally fine). If you could get your hands on a simple pair of Charge Vulcans / Charge Raygun and Frozen Shooter you could mostly play to the same level as some of these lads regardless of your materials and other stuff if you know how to PLAY. I've first hand witnessed players that have all the fancy end game gear play so bad that runs would legitimately be faster if they just AFK'd or left. Gear is not the end all be all of PSO gameplay and especially not until you're trying to become "competitive". It takes a long time to get familiar and comfortable with PSO, its monsters, and it's quests because there's so many of them and they all have their own nuances and little details. It can be really hard to describe certain things over text, but I will do my best. As you branch out from TTF and start playing quests with other people if you start paying really close attention to how monsters behave (movement, attack patterns, spawn animations) and which monsters in which quests need to be killed / handled before other monsters you can really propel your gameplay from bad / decent / good to superior. As simple as PSO seems if you take the time to "critically" think about the quests you chose to play and which parts are giving you or parties you're in struggles you'll find that there's going to be almost always be a variety of ways to break individual spawns down to a level that you can handle. One of the nice parts of PSO is that each individual quest (almost all of them) the enemies are set in stone meaning they will spawn the same way every time you play a given quest and just memorizing that and knowing where to stand based off that to either be safe or in position to attack will separate you from beginner type game play. I think this is sorta long enough as is, but if you ever have particular questions about combat in PSO or just want to know more in general feel free to say so either here or PM. There's websites that are gold mines for the fundamentals of combat of PSO that I can refer you to and quite literally 1000s of videos to refer to about cleaning your game play up and understanding the core combat of this game regardless of your gear / level. Edit: Something I'll add that in general applies to almost all quests is that controlling spawns is key. There's a lot of ways to do this. I am sure you're already familiar with Freeze Traps and specials like Blizzard and Arrest. These are tools you can employ all throughout the game on practically every spawn to break them down to become more favorable for you and your party. Once a spawn or set of spawns starts moving and entering attack animations and things like that there's potential for "disastrous" (it's just PSO so worst case you virtually die and reset lol) things to happen.
  11. You can find old pictures on Ephinea selfie thread and I think you’d be sad that I’m nothing how you’d imagine way to always make it about me though. Glad to know I capture that much of your head space
  12. This is elite. Can't wait to hear a reply from Usagi or maybe even she'll vanish lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Bro gonna have to give mio his items back.
  13. I feel like what you mean to say here is that because S-Ranks are outclassed that people aren't playing 1/3 (depends on how you view multi-mode and one-player mode) of the games available modes. It's totally fine that new weapons outclass S-Ranks. It's not fine that this in turn renders Challenge Mode useless. This isn't really relevant, but Blizzard Needle is not something that is used in the regular PSO. I agree in general that Needle weapons are generally neglected, but that's because there's no Type version of them. I think this is a very easy fix. I don't really think this is as you say among "3 major ones". Soul Booster would likely be the next combiner used for an item, but Ultimas issues are not related to lack of items in any way. I don't think this is a necessarily a good solution. Launchers sort of suck so I'm not going to even address this. There could definitely be a new Needle introduced to the game that's in the exact same vein as say Type SH/Shot relative to the S-Rank Shot. Same ATA, but you can add whatever special and hit with DTs. It could just be a standard drop somewhere outside of MotV and IDS as those are way busted for hunting. Ideally it would replace some regular no event drop because those tables are boring as hell and offer nearly nothing. Anything relating a GM redeeming for you is zzz. None of Ultimas issues are directly related to the lack of items. Ultima has A LOT of weapons / items. An optimal Ultima inventory pretty much has no weapons in common with that of a vanilla or GC inventory. The issues are the core systems related to gameplay and I agree that Challenge Mode serving no function is one of them. Changing the rewards is not too hard and is something I think should definitely be looked into. It's really hard to say what because in vanilla play CM adds an insane amount of replayability due to how the rewards function within Gallons Shop and the fact PDs are a little harder to come by. If Challenge Mode S-Rank clear times were made like 2 or 3 hours harder and allowed you to add hit to your weapons in 5 hit increments then it'd probably be more played than Normal Mode during non-events. This would be cool to me and also add a partial fix to the issue with DTs.
  14. That's correct. The server and your client were having some sort of desync in which your client thought a scape doll was occupying a space in your inventory that in actuality according to the server was your Lindcray. Sometimes (almost always) you can fix this yourself by changing blocks and sorting your inventory.
  15. https://saarian-j.webs.com/pso.htm If you go here and control + f for "Attack Glitches" you'll find a really long segment that gives A LOT more detail about the glitches. In general you can read pretty much everything there is to know about PSO combat there.
  16. Max Attack 1C 2P No-PB on the GameCube. I was really struggling to execute a lot of our planning, but rewatching it doesn't look too bad for anyone interested :)

  17. Even though we use LK pretty consistently used throughout the run sure I will timestamp it during this run and perhaps a couple others. I don't want to link the probably 50+ runs of LK use that exist so here's a few. In longer runs on Vanilla and pre-Serene Swan it is common to carry a full set of LKs. If you start here you'll see a few spawns of LK use in the next minute or so. If you start here you'll see some LK and throughout the whole run. Again we use it here. It's a lot more common on Ephinea because they don't have Serene Swan, but before Serene Swan only a few of us from Chosen Few were using it on Ultima as you see in these videos. In terms of TA it's sort of a new thing (last 4ish years or so) because no one thought to use it because it requires really high hit to be any decent. That's obviously not an issue on Ultima. Even when locked it's often times the best ranged weapon available (before Swan). Ah well then that's cool if people really want to hunt a combiner for a 1 ATP 1 ATA Rafoie gun I don't see the harm really (feels like a wasted opportunity imo, but whatever). It's been some time since I've read any posts relating to the exact specifics of your idea, so sorry if you're having to repeat yourself. As I've been saying I am not for or against the idea as at this point. Serene Swan is probably just better. All the same to me.
  18. I am not sure about that. First perhaps the use of the weapon as is should be evaluated? This would actually be nerfing it??? I know the weapon doesn't see much use here now cause Serene Swan, but before Serene Swan a hit LK was / is essentially a ranged DF. It had uses in nearly every quest and was a staple of a TA inventory. Depending on your Shifta level it's capable of 1H tons of different enemies across all 3 episodes from quite a solid range. Is ruining what once was and technically what it still is for a shitty rafoie minigun really worth it? I think not. If people were to want a LK that can shoot Falz it should be a new weapon that doesn't completely ruin the actual use of LK. You can see how LK COULD be used in team play. Even though Ultima does now have better options if it were to ever be utilized in this method it'd be 100000000000000000000000000000000x better than a Rafoie gun. There's nothing actually stopping it from being used as displayed in the video either.
  19. Some of the stuff they’ve got is admittedly really cool. There was a time when I thought they were pretty cool as a whole. Now I feel like they’ve gone too far off the path of what PSO feels like to me. Additionally they’re thieves and generally I don’t trust their staff seeing as Broomop (convicted cyber criminal) and Mylandra (partially responsible for a summer of DDoSing and gore porn spamming on Ultima) are listed as developers. They’ve pretty much changed Destiny to be something not PSO and I’m no longer a fan of the gameplay.
  20. Agreed, which is why I said it doesn’t really matter if it were to happen or not. I agree sort of. That’s a pretty niche case and I’m sure it’d be worth carrying for that (maybe?). I’d like to point out that Ultima already has INSANE weapon diversity. HUcast inventory for example I already roll around with 2 Dark Flows, 2 Vjayas, 2 Diska of Bravemen / Slicer of Vengeance, 2 Serene Swans, 1 Psycho Raven, 1 Type ME/Mechgun, 1 Twin Blaze, 1 Lavis Blade and then I have 1 of Asteron Striker / Morolian Blaster and 1 of Kiss of Death / Boomerang. That’s 14 weapons and there’s really still room for more because I don’t carry around a full PR set like I probably should. No Zal Gun or S-Reds either. No Excalibur (typically). No TJS, Bombchu, Crush Cannon, Daylight Scar, Fury of the Beast, Ten Year Blades, Black King Bar or any of the other weapons that I could be carrying. That’s enough to literally have a 30/30 inventory of just weapons. It’s true I could slim down and not carry sets but I’d have to visit the bank a lot more. Mind you that Armor / Shield / Units / Mag is an additional 7 inventory spaces that you pretty much must have. Then there’s consumables which I typically carry at the least Dimate, Trimate, Sol / Moon Atomizer, and Telepipes. Another 5 slots for a total of 12 slots for non-weapons. I happen to also keep V502 in my inventory because there’s places to swap to it in most quests. 13 slots for me before getting to weapons. TLDR: There’s already a lot of weapons.
  21. At this point I don't think LK would be better than any of the other options. Whether it were to happen or not it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of play. If I’m honest it’s would be yet another tool that makes hucast even better than the other classes. I’m surprised y’all are interested in that. I think it's really time to revisit the idea of quests being available in One-Player Mode. It would give a place for people to play alone if they were to want to. Additionally that's a space where techs are not just viable, but usually dominant compared to other options. It's not exactly a "fix" to making techs stronger in the current landscape, but giving them a space where they do excel. On this same topic I think techs would feel a lot less bad if the DMC was a bit more manageable (DMC patch is something that could very well happen). Techs already have some pretty crazy boost items here on Ultima. I think a lot of the time when people feel they are being unusually weak with techs it's because they're casting Rafoie on a FOmarl wearing Sonic Team Armor and a Red Ring. If players were to match the proper enemies with the proper elements along with the proper frames / shields I think they'd often find themselves feeling stronger. There's not really a good guide on this or a place to look I think (especially not one related to specifically Ultima). Perhaps someone could make something like that so people could have an easy space to see what enemies are weak to what techs and a few different combinations of gear to achieve a high tech boost for that particular tech or type of tech.
  22. This is essentially what State / Maintenance is. I’m in favor of adding it back as Sega did have it in the game at some point (Dreamcast).
  23. There's a whole type of game play to be unlocked if it were to drain say 87.5% or greater of total HP. Black Ring is one of those untapped items that can drastically change the way people play while providing a worthwhile benefit. This would be could potentially be very similar. Sounds like Excalibur + Proof of Saint Sword lol (exactly the same). Excalibur and Hundred Souls are already VERY good weapons with 900 and 1000 ATP respectively. They both combo kill a lot of enemies very consistently while having one of the best animations in the game. I think there's other directions to go. Gael Giel can't ever be more than a status symbol until it's triggers are changed (something I'd like to see).
  24. "Depletes", how much did you have in mind? Ultima actually kind of has a plethora of armors including one that essentially makes you invincible. This same thing can sort of be said for shields / weapons. What ideas do people have for mags and units? Mags are a sorta tough category cause unless the custom mag has triple invincibility with at least base 50% activation rates they just get cast aside. Making any one mag the pinnacle of mags by giving it 60% triggers and all invincibility would almost totally ruin mag diversity. What about units though. Ultima does sort of have a lot of custom units but most of them are Centurion / X that are clear and straight forward progressions along the path Sega designed for those type of units. Perhaps there's something cool that isn't too broken worth adding? Even though it's totally OP and probably shouldn't exist... a unit that was the natural progression of V101 that included 110% attack speed would be bonkers. Although State / Maintenance isn't a new item it is still pretty different from any of the custom units that are on Ultima. Maybe there's other things to look into though. Maybe units that add +x range to equipped weapon. Who knows.
