Crash when facing backwards

If I turn my character towards the camera and fire my weapon, the game closes without an error message. I even restarted my computer but nothing. Anyone else experience this and have a fix?

About 5 min after I posted this I  reinstalled and still had issues.

Ya keep shooting the camera man John! Can't run the game if you keep shooting the camera man/robot/thing!

... 30 minutes later I completely shutdown my computer and relaunched PSO. Problem fixed. Yay. Don't know what caused the issue, but I'm happy now, so I can at least go to bed.

If that happens again try the following

1. Open the start menu
2. Type sysdm.cpl and press enter
3. Go to Advanced tab
4. Click Settings (on the performance group)
5. Go to Data Execution Prevention tab
6. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select
7. Click Add and search for PSOBB's executable (psobb.exe)
8. Click Ok to close everything

Appreciate the assistance. So far not encountering any problems, but if I do, hopefully it will help resolve the issue the next time I shutdown my computer and the new settings take effect.

I'm having the crash issue again even after adding pso to the DEP list and doing a full shutdown. pso is still in the DEP list by the way. It seems it happens whenever my brother and I are both playing the game. I even tested shooting towards the camera in a solo game and I'm still crashing. We're playing in the same house, so we're thinking it might be a network issue, but honestly this game doesn't seem very demanding on the bandwidth.

I'm still crashing even when my brother is not in-game.

Found out what caused the crash. Seems like the Discord app has something to do with it as every time I open it, that's when I start having issues. Discord browser version works just fine, so if anyone's having issues and suspect the Discord app may have something to do with it, make sure to close your Discord app by right clicking the icon and quit Discord.

PS: Apologies for this post becoming a cumulative log of issues and attempts, but felt the need to put this out there. This post will remain open if anyone wants to add to it, or if I ever crash again and have nothing else to do.

Does discord put it's overlay in the game?
If so, try not using the overlay.

Just tested it: Discord was open before I launched pso and I turned off the overlay before firing. When I toggled it on and fired again that's when the crash happened. So I guess the overlay is the issue.

Yea, pso doesn't like overlays. They make the game do some weird things (such as turning the floor invisible).

Just to share my experience.

I can use discord overlay just fine, so it's not just the overlay, it's a combination of things but what are those things, no idea.
