Ok well you see... you all know... I'm a rather busy guy, have things to do etc.. and when stuff happens
it rains down heavy XD

so yeah, this is a little story (and personal experience of mine) that happened 3 months ago and felt it was
too good to just forget it, so I kinda wanna share it now before it grows older and loses detail...
ladies and gents...

DISCLAIMER:
just a word of caution, this IS long, get comfy, grab an drink and let's start.
(MODS: It MIGHT get really big to add to a single post, so please excuse my multi-posting, it's worth the read)
touchy subjects are handled here don't start a flame-war, it's already touchy as it is, and I sorta believe
most of the daily site users are mature for this, for safety I'm NOT gonna specify names or groups.

THE CHRONICLES OF R.A.V.S.O part I.

(a.k.a the unfortunate adventures that led me into the greatest trolling attempt I've done yet XD)

CHAPTER 1: ON DEVIANTART!

Alright, so you already know... I'm an RPG MAKER XP dev, I have my project and the fun and pleasure of
doing what I like is what keeps me afloat... so on my journey to become a better mapper and event-maker
a friend of mine suggested a certain group on Deviantart, So I decided to pay a visit and check it out,
true to his word, I found the dev group and decide to join in... it's all good, nice sprites etc..
and soon I realize... "I'm gonna need a dev team, if I actually want some form of progress for my project"
but then I figured... I just entered the group, if I barged in and demanded a team right off the bat I'd
probably get kicked or not taken seriously...
but coincidentially... the group was hosting a demo showcase competition for new people to join... I was thinking
JACKPOT....

CHAPTER 2 DEMO-WARS!

So I successfully uploaded a demo (it was actually an old demo I re-uploaded) to the group and enter the contest,
about 10 people upload theirs (some are story demos, some are gameplay demos, mine in particular was a test gameplay demo)
a week goes by... the results are in, my demo ends up tied in 2nd place with another cool demo about an apocalypse etc..
on the first place, a naruto-OC based rpg...

so I'm like... 2nd place... not bad XD and then the 1st place winner makes a topic that in a nutshell asks people
to play the demo and say constructive criticism... so out of curiosity I download the demo and try it out...
it was rather badly made (in terms of programming, such as collision, terrain detection etc... very newbie mistakes)
I'll put it this way... I BROKE the demo (glitched it out and made it unplayable) not by hacking it, not by modding it
but by simply backtracking one room back, so I took my time to memorize the room and position where the glitch happens.

so I go to the naruto topic, and post "there is a glitch on Room X at X coordinates,if you backtrack your sprite
glitches up and he looks like he's breakdancing XD"

The person's reply: OMG! UR SUCH A SMART@$$ WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, THINKING UR SUCH A PRO, blah blah blah...
so I like... boy that escalated quickly and decided to plain ignore that person... then they start replying about
how my demo was crappy and didn't deserver 2nd place becase (quoted) "the sprites look horrible and non-kawaii"
I simply responded...

"bet you $10 (in DA points) that you can't glitch or sequence break my demo without the use of mods,RPGXP or hacks"
so the user agreed and I didn't hear from them in about 3 days... so I thought, the whole thing was over.

CHAPTER 3 NOT-SO-CALM-BEFORE-THE-STORM.

WRONG! On the 4th day, something catches my eye... I've got someone subscribed to my page, and instantly sends me a PM
the PM is called "about your project" it basically read: "Hello, I am interested on your project and wish to help you,
but in order to do so, I need to know any vulnerabilities on the code to iron out"... my first reaction is to ask the
painfully obvious question... "who sent you?"
after some awkward silence the guy just reassures me that he's just there to help out, but eventually I tell him
"I'm about to get $1o worth of DA points.. I'll give you half if you tell me who sent you"... the guy just tells me
the name of the person... so I simply reply "you'll get your half when I get the money" and remove him/block him
from my page.

So now I go confront the person in the topic, demanding my share of the "loot" the guy as expected replies with what
could be interpreted as a broken typewriter attempting to do understandable speech, needless to say I asked him
how many persons tried to glitch the demo via gameplay... he responded with... "lots of people" I check my downloads
and only 7 people tried it, none of them managed to get it to glitch or sequence break, so I simply told him
"get the hell out of my sight you scrub" and this officially made my project seem more interesting now...

CHAPTER 4: THE SH!TSTORM BEGINS.

The project marched smoothly, although I didn't have a dev team assembled yet, I did have the project be given some
resources (where I got the city sprites from) and people were expecting this... however the "event" happens...
as I check into my inbox... I got 1 very... "special" PM... I won't tell who sent it... it's the contents that matter
the PM read... "hey dude, are you interested in yaoi/yuri? because I'd like it if you would add some well made
pony porn on your game." (DISCLAIMER: Not making this up XD) my response... No.

(DISCLAIMER AGAIN: This one also doubles as an FYI, I'm not either with or against MLP, tbh I couldn't care less as
I'm not interested, note also how I never actually say "hate ponies)

the other guy's response: why not?
-I don't want to.
-Why don't you?
-it would not make any sense, destroys the context, and is itself a waste of good dataspace I could be using
on battle animations.

-OMG UR SUCH A PONY-HATER! GO DIE IN A FIRE YOU FAG!!!!!1 I CAN'T BELIEVE I THOUGH YOU WERE A COOL PERSON
(boy that escalated quickly huh?)

anyways... got fed up with that dick and erased the PM, I went to bed and was preparing for the incoming
weekend... next day to my surprise and horror I see a brand new topic on the forum... "RAVSO is a pony-hater!"
I couldn't really believe my eyes and an inner part of me said "you gotta be f***ing kidding me!"
as I delved deep into what accumulates into 2 pages of people complaining about something I never said
a part of me could not help but laugh at some of the most stupid comments I have ever witnessed...
my favorite...

"My 4 year old sister got sad and started crying when she heard you hated ponies, you are the
most cold-hearted self-centered human bastard I have ever met!"

it just kept going... and going... and going...

so yeah I got pissed off at the entire group... it's like that single topic allowed me to see them for what
they truly were... superficial sheep under the guise of spriters and overall programmers... I felt so disgusted
at how easily they could be manipulated against you should you dare to even disagree against X thing.
so I pretty much decided to leave the group for good.

next morning I get about 20 PM's 14 people asking me (someone demanded rather than asked) for me to return
the rest were about me going to go suck the genitalia of ficticious creatures... this was (for me) the last straw.

I had the strong urge to get back at them... and my original idea was to include (inside the game) some form of
parody that ridiculized ponies... but then it dawned on me... if I did that, I would have essentially placed ponies
in the game (which after this whole affair would justify me not wanting to add any at all), so I needed another idea.
Some form of way to ridiculize not MLP itself... but the twisted fanbase beneath it.. and then I got it...

I must create some form of satire that ridiculizes these, WITHOUT including ponies.... so the only way I could
achieve this, would be to take the whole MLP & fanbase's contexts... twist them and make them as incorrect as possible
and use them on a fictional thing.... that fictional thing? Puppets.


CHAPTER 5: VENTRILO-QUEST!

So in a stroke of genius I decided to take what I had turn it into what I need, I have an angry fanbase at me? well ok
what can I make out of it? well... the butt end of a joke XD

So I made a new (fake) Deviantart account (now deleted) and go right back into that forum and do one single post:

VENTRILO-QUEST! The Last Puppet-bender!

"Once upon a time... in the magical land of Puppestria, there lies a puppet called "timid-strings" who in her quest

the last puppet-bender "Jack-Pooler" on a quest so they can learn that "Fisting-is-Magic" XD


Let's just say that my fake acc's inbox got filled to the brim in about 30 minutes or less and the topic got deleted in about 1
hour (new record!! whoo! XD) YES I was expecting this result... you see I took the most stupid and hilarious comments I could
find... alter the words from anything related to ponies into puppets and decided to use these as actual dialogue for a certain
part of my game XD

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITES:

So, yeah long story short... Phase 1 is complete... now phase 2 is on the works, I shall post the outcome when it is
released XD until then... you now have a semi-interesting chronicle to laugh about XD.

Pretty ironic how in the end they WERE easily manipulated into doing my bidding huh? oh well doesn't make it even less

sick or just plain sad... oh well until next time, hope this actually catches up and I get to write another one XD
