    An armor like this could add a whole new dynamic to Ultima. As a server most of us are used to walking around being ~invincible to all elemental attacks, and even ATP based attacks. This is not typically the case on other versions of PSO where in order to play even "smoothly" you have to be at least mildly aware of your surrounding enemies and in game objects as to not die. An armor of this style could give at least the option (not niche either) for the user to pick between a hyper offensive style of play or a more modest style. 

    I like the idea, particularly having in-armor-centurion-battle (so as to have more flex spots for different units & builds), but here the content is geared towards having STA/PGF (makes sense, after all, they are the hard-to-get items of the server). An armor with poor EDK would be bad in most @R-78 quests, for instance, unless it provided such huge boosts so that the armor would then be ridiculously OP.

    Going back to the topic. To be useful, such an armor would need to have resses close to STA. And, well, I think there's no need to explain why an offensive armor with STA resses shouldn't exist. I think that to spice the server it would be better to look away from STA/PGF and focus on other things. These items  are what make Ultima more unique after all. That's why I think that visuals is the best bet in this case.

  2. I agree with Nou that STA shouldn't be made more broken. Like PGF, it's an item that should be kinda broken (even if you don't like it) due to how hard it is to farm, but it already outclasses almost everything in the game and it's a huge deal whether you have it or not, specially for end game content.

    Leaving that aside, I think the visual part could be very interesting, just like in Ephinea they use items to change RR color. STA not having any cool visual despite being the best armor in the game is kinda sad. Moreover, adding/changing armor effs isn't as easy as changing wp textures so, it is not like me or ass (to provide an example) could come with some kind of: "replace your STA visual with this sick Red Aura Field visual" or something like that. That's why I think many people, myself included, would be very happy with chachi visual options implemented for STA. So I'm all in for farming to get STA skins!

  3. Ok. Unless playing EP4 specifically, Caster build is a bad idea, so you need to work on some Melee stuff. Godrick Cloack is a nice choice if u use the class that can equip it, otherwise most important thing is having a 4slot armor (that isn't too bad).

    For units you should use:

    -Smartlink

    -V502 (if using hell weapons)/ flex slot otherwise

    -Centurion/Battle

    -Flex slot

    (I'll assume you know how to max your stats with mag & mats)

    For shield you should be using some kind of Red Ring + Halo Rappy Soul or Red Ring itself due to the +20 all. Frank the bunny is particularly useful on classes that can cast zalu/jell, but other options can be good too.

    Now the important part, weapons:

    Banana Cannon is usually your best AOE option.

    Lindcray with hit is one of the best options for single target dmg (you gonna need to burn trifluids tho).

    Rambling May with hit if you can use it is also nice.

    Samba Fiesta with hit for EP2 mobs. Demon is very important in a class with the lowest atp in game _also demon very good overall_.

    Slicer of Vengeance with hit can also output very nice AOE dmg.

    Fury of the beast with hit can output nice single target dmg.

     

    That's usually what I use. I tend to prefer to keep it simple and not to use many weapons but there are many further options you can explore which also work as end game stuff.

     

    For caster you should build differently: v801 and Adept and 2 other defensive units (use god/technique if needed, to have all techs at lvl 30).

    Weapons: dark bridge, psycho bridge and glide divine are what matter most (if you don't use frank). The budget option when no PGF is Pyscho Wand.

    Using programs/editors isn't that difficult Kotta, in case you are interested. If you feel like it sometime, I can teach you what I know (which isn't too much anway) and you'll learn it in less than 5 minutes, trust me.

    And there are many weapons that have special particle bullet functions to create some other particle. Also built into the client.

    I've never actually modified these before, but this should work... FS uses particle 0x55 and SQ uses particle 0x1f5 for their bullets (these are hardcoded values in the client). Two ways to modify these.

     

    There's some old particle editor by Lee somewhere. You can open particleentry.dat (from data.gsl if you don't have one) and go to those entries. Modify and save the file into your data folder, then relaunch the client.

    Alternatively you could modify the textures they use. In the particle editor, you'd see that particle 0x55 uses texture ID 0xB723D and particle 0x1f5 uses texture ID 0xAB02C. You can find those in effect_nt.xvm and change that. But this affects all particles that use this texture, which you probably don't want. 

    Yeah, I've messed a bit with Lee's Particle Editor. The problem is that it is extremely confusing to use. Some things such as demon are easy to find and modify, but some of my particle files couldn't even be opened. Your explanation clarified many things tho. I'll try to mess again with particle editor when I have time again (since I also need to make sure that I don't lose the particle skins I already use and such). Ty for the advice!

  6. Welp, every edgy gal & boi needs some dark skins to find happiness! Here, I'm sharing some I made I enjoy how they ended up.

    For Ramarl skin, you need to copy the file on the "DATA" folder root. For the rest, you need a custom folder named "items" in DATA's root. Inside that folder you need to make 2 further folders: "model" + "texture" (those familiar with the process can just ignore this part). Afterwards you paste the files in "texture" .

     

    PS. I included a white Snow Queen since we also need a bit of contrast in our lives, not everything is gonna be always black!

    *IMPORTANT CAVEAT: Ramarl Skin includes modifications in other costumes, so make sure to keep the original file safe just in case!*

    What you refer to, Kotta, doesn't have to do with how textures/mods look (and if it has, it is extremely hard to do). Furthermore, I've never seen an exception to this rule. Yeah, you can change how Froozen Shooter's ice block looks when it impacts (and only when it impacts in particular) with texture files. However, you can't change how the beam looks when shooting, for instance. This can probably be done but we'd need someone that really knows how to deal with these harder-to-do modifications.

  8. A bit late to the party but I found this: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ not too long ago. Since my frames after changing to a 8000K TV + Tower got miserable compared to my Portable (e.g., many times I found myself not being able to do giz trick + other different issues you don't need to know about anyway) I did a bit of research. After trying it today I can say that it seems to work amazingly well. It is basically a program to run old games in new PCs. After trying it, the issue with the frames didn't go away completely, but at least it was highly reduced. I could do the giz trick again, for instance. In fact, due to the overall smoother pace of the game I was able to pull my best TTF run till falz so far (falz trolled me afterwards ofc): 7'36'' (was the time I entered falz area, I mean). I also tested Banana Cannon in Max S and Blizzarding enemies didn't give me any noticeable frame drop. Hope it helps.

     

    PS. A good side effect of the program is that it avoids PSO closing when you open an emergent window, which is super nice too.

    Yes, the FogEditor.exe (of the folder FogEditor003) has become increasingly difficult to find on the internet.

     

    For those of you who may not know, this Tool allows us to change the color of the misty fog that engulfs areas like the Caves. Without it, texture modding these areas of the game can become rather futile. 

     

    I dare you to prove me wrong, try to find this tool somewhere on the internet. If you can, please reply to this posting with a link to it and I will be fulfilled. If you can't, please try to spread awareness on this topic until someone who actually has a working version can restore it along with my sanity.

    We were 4 at the time and we went 4 way pb. And even taking into account what you say, that still seems a bit iffy; but if it happens, it happens, you just need to avoid doing it. I just felt like it was something worth mentioning.

    Demon + DMC caused by zalu= 1

    DMC caused by jellen = 2

    DMC caused by FS = between the 3/6 range. My guess is that it is going to be just 1, so 3

    DMC caused by arrest = 4

    DMC caused by Serene Devil's = should add 1/2 kills, so I'll go with 5

    DMC caused By freeze status = 6

     

    I may be a bit off but otherwise all the information provided doesn't seem to make any sense.

    Yeah, nothing comes to mind here as well, but it's the literal translation of that Katakana. Maybe the English name of the weapon just changes a lot, or maybe you are right about the S-Rank :0?
