A photon crystal is used in the quest Black Paper's Deal or Black Paper's Deal 2. These quests are found in Episode 4 one person mode. Once you start either of these quests talk to the ranger standing across from the area warp. A photon drop is used in the gallon's shop quest. This quest is found in Episode 2 normal mode. Once you start this quest go to where the telepipes appear in town and go into the corner and speak to Paganini's son. He will let you exchange all the photon drops you have for an item. There are also other uses for photon drops such as raising the attributes of a weapon. A photon sphere raises an attribute on a weapon by 30%. A photon charge restores all your pp in PSU but is not in PSOBB. These items are worth what other players are willing to give for them.

Are these the same drops that sodaboy released, or have they been modified a bit?

But as for Lavis Cannon, That monster drops Red Scorpio for purplenum, and drops caduceus for bluefull, yellowboze, and whitill. Just so you know, it doesn't matter the ID of the person that kills it, just the ID of the leader of the room.

That's for redria not all IDs That is just for the caves, they drop aura fields in the temple.

If problems persist after you do what Hirakawa suggested there are a couple things you could try. So if it doesn't work post here with exactly what error you get and we can try to help you before you take that bat to your computer

Are you using vista or xp? Did you use the full installer or the patch installer?

I think the event is a good idea, and civanaj, people might be more willing to do it if you would at least upload that theme in the format you are trying to convert it from.
