Game Insta-Crashes upon firing weapon?

Hi there!

First time trying to get the game started, I can start the game just fine, Create a personal party, and hop into Forest 1, But if I fire my handgun once, The game closes to desktop with no error message.

I'm using Windows 10, playing with an Xbox controller, But I have tested with a keyboard as well, to no avail.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!

Sounds like what's going on here

Try this fix.

1. Open the start menu
2. Type "sysdm.cpl" and press enter
3. Go to "Advanced" tab
4. Click Settings (on the performance group)
5. Go to "Data Execution Prevention" tab
6. Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"
7. Click Add and search for PSOBB's executable (NOT the launcher)
8. And Click ok to close everything

Nope, That didn't appear to work.

I ran the game, Entered Forest 1, and tried firing, same result.

EDIT 1: Forgot to mention, Did a computer restart after setting this as well.

EDIT 2: Suddenly it's working now? After I closed it out and ran the game a 2nd time, I can shoot now.

EDIT 3: Figured it out! PSOBB Does not like my Discord Overlay.

Ah, pso can be really picky about screen control.  Are you running in fullscreen?  If so, try windowed or virtual fullscreen.  Those might not get mad at discord.

I was running it in Virtual Fullscreen.
