    Good Ranger Loadout? Tips needed!

    Okay, so I've already invested a bit in my ranger. I have a hell needle, a 50 hit demon laser, and a no-stats excal. I guess my problem is I am struggling in dealing damage to single targets (such as bosses -- tried using zerk arms, but damage wasn't high enough to really make a dent in most bosses). What other weapons should I add to my arsenal to be able to tackle bosses better?

    I have a V502

    2X heavenly arms

    heavenly battle

    Mag is 35/145/20/0

    I'm almost entirely a hunter player, so any tips are helpful =)

    Better SJS drop rate.

    Quest with Dorphons in it without having to kill 20 Zus before seeing a Dorphon.

    Increased mate capacity for Casts (20 of each mate and 20 star atomizers -- classes with techniques essentially get several hundred mates with resta. Sure casts have better base damage, but after a tech-user has S/D'd and has resta, casts really become useless)

    Dark Flow special works at 50% health (Dark Meteor special works at 100% health. At 10% health, all bosses on all difficulties, except maybe normal, have the ability to kill you in a single hit -- dark flow special can only be used in special circumstances and only on a few bosses, while DM special is useful on every boss in every circumstance.)

    SJS really the last thing I have to work towards in this game, besides lv200 and perhaps a hit excal. But assuming it really took me 27,000 kills to get an SJS....That's over 650 hours of play...even if I played 20 hours a week (and I don't play anywhere near that much because I don't have 20 hours a week to spend gaming) it would take nearly a year to get an SJS at that drop rate. Am I the only one who finds this a little ridiculous?

    because a lot of the time the rates you think you knew where calculated from either

    A. the gamecube files

    B. or where guesstimates based on item excavations from users (lol psoworld).

    That being said since i don't know how vanilla the files in use actually are since alot of drops where changed a long time ago. There is also the chance chuk messed up something in his code probably unlikely but i check some things if i get time.

    Thank you. This is really the only goal I have left aside from getting a LV 200, but with a 1/27000 drop rate, there really isn't much incentive to even try to go after it. If it really did take me 27,000 kills, I'd be looking somewhere in the neighborhood of 600+ hours.......which is like more than all the game i play put together :onion-head75:

    Hey there,

    There are a few quests you can do for hunting lame's

    The special MAX attack for dorphons is actually called M4DMD or something like that in the ultima subsection of the quests that you can only access in normal mode. There are 2 dorphons at the beginning after the first 3 Zu's and a lot more as you progress through it (before Sub Desert). Bring a gun, makes life easier.

    Another thing you can do is make friends with a Force, Forces have a relatively easier time in EP 4 (High level with good techs)

    A last suggestion is going in one person mode and doing the "Warrior's Pride Quest" yo have party members and one of them is a ranger who can basically take the Zu's no problem just remember to heal them/Star atomizer them (if you are a cast). There are also two routes in it, a Dorphon Route or a Zu route. Google search "A soldier's pride" and you will get a walkthrough of the quest.

    Thanks, I wasn't aware of that quest. I'll have to give it a run. All the ones i've tried, even ones that are "Dorphon" specific have ridiculous amounts of Zus. Ill perhaps have to consider getting something to help keep Zus from raping me....twin blaze or something. It's their aerial attack that is annoying as can be.

    Claire's Deal has 10

    Max attack 4c has 13

    Warrior's Pride has 9

    MA4DMD has more than any other quest, but it's a damn hard quest. Also, a few of the dorphons are always eclair's so you won't get lame from them.

    Warrior's pride is ridiculously easy to solo for hunts since you get two NPC companions to heal you and kill enemies. Also it's single player, so difficulty isn't as hard.

    I've tried them all, and like I said, you have to kill over a dozen Zus before the first Dorphon even shows up. Then it's on a ratio of somewhere around 5 Zus per Dorphon after that. Sure it's great and wonderful to have a fo, but I don't, and I don't play enough to hunt items with others (or level up a Fo sufficiently), plus people turn into item-whores when good things drop. Warrior's Pride also had me concerned because the NPC companions are frequently getting the final hit to kill monsters, and they don't have Skyly IDs, so won't that throw off my kill-count?

    Again, I am simply asking that when you do the "Dorphon" route that you actually get Dorphons instead of a million Zus first.

    Trying to Lame hunt, but there isn't a single quest in the game that has decent Dorphon count without having to go through a bajillion Zu's first. Even the "Dorphon" max attack quest has at least a dozen Zus before you see a Dorphon. Nearly impossible for a hunter to hunt lames when there are so many Zu's.

    Was playing and when i equipped my Dark Flow a screen popped up and said: "God/Equips" disabled and when I logged back on my inv was ????

    not interested in either of those......if you have a mind mag that is not rare/mag cell, then i would be interested (have a heart of devil i would like to use to make devil wings)
