  1. Just to double confirm what you proposed above:

Weapon - Any non rare wand, rod or cane type (orange box only).
Armor - Dragon Frame (Can you use non rare frames too, if you don't have a Dragon Frame?)
    Units - v801 (only v801?)
Shield - Can any shields be used?

    Attacks Techniques only
Consumables No mates, stars and sols? But fluids are perfectly acceptable.

No dying. Ultimate. Techniques will be counted. Time will be considered.

    Thanks :D

  2. To me, Dark Flow and Dark Meteor always had the 'n00b' or 'hacker' vibe/feel to it because back in the day of DC/GC/Sega PSOBB etc... Only hackers could attain those items and they were usually n00bs in the gameplay department atleast.

I'm probably a small minority here, where I don't really care for these weapons, probably because I never had a chance to play with them (which would probably change my mind if I did lol) or I wouldn't want to rely on them for most situations, branding my current weaponry useless.

Though, give me a Dark Bridge any day so I can make dat Psycho Bridge lol.

Managed to change his beam colour which was just a texture and not a particle found in the data.gsl > boss06_plotfalz_dat. A nice person in the lobby showcased the weapon's special for me and it didn't change sadly. Also his beam is a lot different from the weapon's beam the character uses too.

na they totaly work. i think what you mean is itemtextureep4.afs and itemmodelep4.afs

soly changed it (i think to a pretty nice idea) you have to open texture ep4 file. then lets say DM is ID 197 apply afp patch. then export texture ID 197 as prs file and it has to be called File 197.prs

after that copy that prs and navigate to: PSOBB>DATA>ITEMS>TEXTURE paste it into the texture folder. now if the launcher updates your game it doesnt overwrite the item texture.

@Soly btw does that only happens to itemtexture/modelep4.afs? if i change it it will get overwritten by launcher with original file. but does that happen to others too?

(my opinion: no, since i edited effect packs texture and it still stay the same after 5 times of restarting launcher xD)

Oooooooo! Okay, seems confusing but I might be able to work it out. Good idea on Soly's part. Thanks, and useful to know! :)

So  you have to use that blue programme, afs manager?

any file inside the data.gls can be updated by throwing them into the data folder without updating the data.gls.

I think this is it! Thank you man lol... I can navigate the textures a lot more easier now, knowing what number represent what weapon/texture <3!

    @Junsui

well i dont use the gsl extractor since it can only extract files. On the side with the skins where you can find the gsl extractor there is a link to more tools where you find a gsl updater with which you can export and import.

To do that you need 3 tools: gsl updater, texture manager and paint.net/photoshop/etc to edit the colour and such stuff

Search for the file you are lookin. Export it with gsl updater. Open it with texture manager. Export it as DDS. Open it ,in my case with paint.net, save it as DDS. Import it with with texture manager in that ID you exported it from. Then you can save it as .bml .xvm .prs (and another file type i forgot)

Then back to the gsl updater. Navigate back to the file which you have exported. Import your edited bml/xvm/prs. Then save it as data.gsl (this may take a little time to safe)

    Thats what i did :3

also i was thinkin about that today morning.. and i think i figured it out why all those particle i changed to blue got green. xD its like i said a mix of colours. the effect texture pack uses a texture for the effect (which is yellow/orange) and then there are 3 other textures with colours which i changed to sky blue. and yeah obviously yellow+blue = green xD still dont know why it changed the particle stuff but ill figure that out.. somehow xD

Oh and junsui. For the itemtextureep4.afs

You can find model and texture IDs in the wiki :P

Cool, thanks for the updated and I saw Shiva's response above saying you can just drop the file into the folder and it'll update itself from there.

Also, what I want to say also is that if your files doesn't seem to be working (the ones you have edited), its because when you load PSOBB, the updater will download from the server to override the files you have edited. But if you cancel before it does that, you can get away with it. I was messy around with Spread Needle Texture and I noticed if I left it as normal it would load the normal texture but if I cancelled it, it allowed my one to persist. Also with in-game weapon textures, you can see it in real time by unequipping and re-equipping the item you're texturing, which saves you some time to log in each time, but crashes can happen.

Okies, thanks for the directions! Oh interesting lol, it is bizarre how this game was put together; its confusing but quite fun lol.

Ohhhhh that's right, the bloody wiki! Thanks... Well I got file from shiva but I'll use the wiki too as a backup (totally forgot).... Thanks! :D

@Junsui, i got to a totaly diffrent confusing point now xD i just have every particle file using blue everywhere lol. well i tried to edit texture of olga (so green stuff to blue with paint net xD)

now i edited effect_nt.xvm exported textures added blue textures. now every particle i changed to blue is green now lol. but in the particle file it all is still blue xD

@Soly couldnt be the dm special just be a file with a texture? cause i found some interesting stuff today like beams of bosses which are also just textures and editable :P (found ep4 boss beam and changed it to blue)

Bloody hell lol... Whether you find it or not, you are finding out many other treats for yourself!

So you edited all the particle file from the data.gsl and extract (and after editing it, dropping it back in the folder might be its 'import' system?). Or did you edit only the programme can edit via the usual ones? Hilarious, so is all of PSO looking blue for you? I'd like to see some screen shots ahaha!

How and what did you use to export and edit the xvm file? Strange, why did it carry on being green, when you applied blue? Did you eventually get your DM special blue beam?

There was this programme that Lee had on Schthacks. IIRC, you could load up any weapon in real time or you HAD to equip the weapon you have and then you could load up any weapon's skin or the weapon itself and it'll skin over the weapon you're carrying to produce some weird and wonderful results in real time without doing the programmes. Though if you wanted to make it perma you had to do it through the usual route, or you load the skin over your weapon everytime you log-in etc...

Ah I remember doing a Hildel* lol:

*** BTW I believe I saw someone post a list of weapons representing texture number in ItemTextureEp4? Anyone have it? Thanks :D

Well this one is made by me. (I slap the cc-0 on this though which means I really don't care if you credit me or not. Still copyrighted by Sega/SonicTeam if the devs/publisher even cares.)

Apologies for the double post. Trying to get used to this message board.

Seen those pictures a few times through out the years. They never get old, always so beautiful to look at :)! Fucking Seabed infamous hallway, the feels!

LOL at the FO one! FO Anxiety is a real thing guys, please be gentle on us <3!

Thanks for the link to the artwork! I'll definitively check them out :)

  9. Oh wait. I think I figured how to access those files the ones Lee put them in the folder. Its probably common knowledge to Soly and dev team lol.

Use: GSL Extractor, open up the DATA.GSL and press extract on the one you want and then use the particle editor to access it. Not to sure on how to import it back in though? Maybe just drop the file in the data folder, I don't know XD

na i just went through with arrows ant typed red: 0 blue: 1 green: 1 (just took me 1 or 2 hours)

and yes i tried every file, also the file you mentioned isnt even in the psobb folder its in the folder you downloaded with the particle editor x:

    Ahhhh lol! Very long XD

Oooooooo! I was expecting that the particle editor files mirror the PSOBB data folder ones and you're right it doesn't. Strange... I dunno what to do now xD.

@Junsui i just changed the main particleentry.dat to sky blue and im now 100% sure the special of DM  is not included in there xD

and just to let you know. thats how the DM special looks like: darkmeteor3.jpg

You went through the whole 500+ ID's? So you used colour code that would make Sky Blue, and then you arrow'd key your way down the list spamming ctrl+v LOL!?

Must of took you some time and endurance lol! Determination for that blue beam. Have you tried the Olga file yet?

    7 minutes ago, Soly said:

I just checked and the special is not part of the photon color.
I don't really know where it could be, maybe there is some other particle file or who knows.

Also, yes the test server is down, I'll probably put it up again but we are testing some other stuff and it might go down any time.

Ahhhh! Its a strange one. I kinda want to find it because it'll be good for future reference as someone will want to have it changed and will ask.

That sounds good! If the server stays down or whatever no worries :)! Ty...

  12. If I had a DM myself, I'll be experimenting and trying it all out but I don't lol. So its all up to you! :P Maybe ask on Ephinea forum or something as I am sure someone must know.

On some weapons their projectiles are textures such as the Spread Needle photon bullet can be changed exported/imported with the Texture programme, then photoshop, paint.net etc... I found the DM texture but I couldn't see anything relating to the photons that it shoots unless its in the texture itself hiding away but I really doubt that. It does seem more particle then texture anyways.

  13. 4 minutes ago, Night said:

nono dm uses no bullets for special xD

idk D: thats a question for soly/anyone who knows about. cause i got the item maker a long time ago from soly

was a boing raining saturday xD well next thing i wanna try is turning every file, every ID to sky blue but i dont know if there is something like export to excel and then import from an excel so i can just change it eaier/faster

yeah after some hours of checking/searching i lost patient for more searching xD

Sorry, when I say 'bullets' I mean the beams, or the projectiles that come out of the Dark Meteor.

Ah, never mind. I signed up to the test server as I found the item editor on my PC but the server isn't online at the moment (dang it!).

Haha, that be funny to see. Does the excel file even communicate with the particle files? I thought it is just a file that has all the entries in and if you edited on there it wouldn't update the particle files (could be wrong though).

Well definitively check out Olga Flow data file: particleentrya31

Go ham in there and see if it works. You can see his Dark Flow Special Beam in there (from what I can tell), so I am guessing the Dark Meteor one should be in there too. His attacks are pretty much just a scaled down version when using his weapons in game; so the game has to be drawing it from either folder or the main one IMO.

  14. 7 minutes ago, Night said:

yep its just the normal bullet which you can see in the posted pic above. (i used light blue cause i love it more than dark blue)

if test server is still up you can make you any items

i already tried that.. changed every ID in all particleentryX.dat from any green to light blue.. but it doesnt seem the file includes the special. or its 2 diffrent IDs which are yellow and blue and mix to green but idk x:

    I got confused initially as I thought that was the DM's special bullet lol. Its a nice blue I give you that! ^^;

Ah! How would I do that? I'm sure I had a link or came across that item creation programme recently, but can't remember if I still have it.

Oh really LOL?! Damn! Good point on the mixture of colours; perhaps it could be that or its somewhere else. The other particle entries are the levels and bosses on what I checked out; which I doubt it is in there... UNLESS... .. .

It could be in the Olga Flow particle entry data and the weapon that the character uses in game comes directly from Olga Flow's file. I think it could be that I'll check. :D

  15. Never used the Particle programme but I had a look.

I have loaded up the file you posted, aswell as an original particle entry file. I compared and contrasted the ID and everything seems the same except the colours:

    http://i.imgur.com/z2nzmo5.jpg

[EDIT] So something just clicked in me lol.

The ID's you provided is the 'normal bullet' of Dark Meteor, correct? You know you could have a dark blue going around that light blue (just saying). Well the biggest problem here for me is that I can't test anything out because I don't have a DM. But is it possible to produce one on the test server? Like can I go on there, get level 200, and create a DM to test it out?

The idea that I had was to go through the particle entry file (of course back up your original) and look for all the colours that are green or closely resemble DM special's colour. Check the name of the file/ID to see if you can distinguish whether it 'could' be that or 'not' and then change the colour to like a red/few different colours for the greens or something. Then once you found it by seeing the colour being changed in game then narrow it down lol, until you actually find the ID etc...

@Junsui It seems like you're trying to make a whole new game. Not that am against new ideas or "improvements", but you can't really change the fondamental of pso (like adding a guard/roll/dodge).

At the end I think the people here want to play to pso, not some kind of mutated version of pso. If you change too much the gameplay of pso, well it's not pso anymore. Of course, you can still have fun and change the whole game mechanic if you have the time to do so, and even open your very own server with all those drastic changes but... that's for another topic then =)

Haha, not entirely true but I can see where you're going with it.

I am just throwing down ideas that is all. Whether it is possible or not; I just like the usefulness of this thread and see if it could 'possible' be implemented because we never had a say before, so might aswell put some ideas down because we can this time.

Its mostly out of curiosity though and seeing if its possible; but I am not expecting it to be made apparent. It is also good on Soly's and the dev team behalf to be challenged with these questions as it may reveal the limitations or possibilities on the server(s) and their skillset/knowledge.

The questions I may have asked were probably already said back throughout the thread's lifecycle (I don't know) or people may wanted to say something similar; but haven't said it for reasons. They may appear a bit far-fetch or too much for PSO but I don't really care about that. I am just saying it out of curiosity on how far Soly and dev team can push their prowess because I'd like know what they can and can't do; just for the sake of knowing. :)
