  1. Just as an FYI. Well I've had a functional version out for the basic mag evolutions for a couple of weeks now. I've un-offically dubbed it version 1_0_9.

It effectively handles all the feeding / evolutions / cells correctly. Tracks/Displays information on feeding/evolution. And can save/delete the mag. Includes a feed timer (experimental) and a section ID calculator.

It'll be a little while. But right now I am in the process of converting all of the internal data to be read from .txt files so they can be easily read/changed by the user. Adding mag abilities. Adding photon blasts..etc. All the extra little goodies basically, so that one will be a little while still.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested in the program (uses .net framework 4.0).

  2. Actually it did help a lot even with 5/6. I was able to do a google image search based on the initial 5 which led me to the 6th that I wasn't able to easily find otherwise. All my previous google searches kept popping up screen shots. All I had to do was crop 5 pixels off and reduce x/y to 25% and tada instant 6th.

Which I am currently putting to use ;)

  3. So I feel stupid asking this, but isn't there one missing? There are 5 images.

Also, just to confirm, which are which =X. I have this right below yes? I've spent more time actually writing a program (well re-writing) for the game than actually playing the game I think.

    Leilla - angel looking
    Estlla - 3 dot dolphin
    Golla - X
MyllaYoulla - Mushroom twin head guy
    Pilla - Missing??

    Farla - Circle

    Edit:

Ignore this.. I think I found a Pilla image similar to the above floating around the forums here. Ty :)

  4. If anyone is a bit tech/graphic savy, I need the icons for the photon blasts. Ideally something around 50x50 pixels is the only real requirement. Even the 50x50 isn't set in stone as long as its a 1:1 ratio really.

I'm not overly picky at this point tbh. Screen shots, ms paint, something laying around from a previous PSO version. Just as long as its clearly identifiable really would be of great use to me.

  5. You might try looking up a program called D3D Windower. I used to use it on some of my older online games that tried to force full screen and had graphics issues. It allows running of full screen programs in a window. One version is like japanese, but there is also an english version floating around. Its pretty old so its reliability may be hit and miss. Then again, PSO is somewhat old as well, so it works out. Hopefully.

I believe this second link is a paid program. However, its a far more modern version of the first. It also probably has better 'full screen emulation' within a window as well. I have not personally used this one.

    A
nd yes in theory when program A opens B it should open it with the same privileges. However, just like turning off an anti-virus program.. I find it doesn't always work 100% as it should. Most of the time its probably fine, but 'just to be sure' is the approach I take when things aren't working :)

If the program itself / exe is not running at all, its highly unlikely its a firewall issue. It could possibly be graphics related. However, if it opened once I would find that less likely.

The most likely cause is another program is interferring with it. Could be a program like steam / another game ( they often have anti cheat programs similar to AV). It could be a graphics program similar to photoshop (they dont like to share the graphics processor). It could be a second AV that you just consider more of a 'cleaner' than an antivirus. Or perhaps your anti virus is not 100% uninstalled.

Also you say you are running as admin. However, did you make ALL exe files admin?

AVG does detect it, but McAfee, Norton and Avast do not from what I can tell.
(VirusTotal / Norton does technically detect it, but thats a reputation vote, NOT a scanner detection)

If you look through different sites with multi scanners, you'll normally see less than 10% of them classify it as 'bad'.
    Most classify it as generic.
Some as a 'potentially unwanted application/program'.

None of them outright flip out, start tossing red lights and screaming skynet though...

  8. Actually, while AVG is an adequate antivirus, that is why I stopped using it myself. It is a bit over sensitive. Not the best for gaming IMHO. Actually, I've recently been looking for a good free gaming AV program myself. I could suggest an AV or two, but with so many differences there are a hundred reasons to like/hate any given AV.

Huer as in heuristic. Its trying to detect previously unfound viruses based on its behavior. Hence the false positive. I have no idea exactly what it is that AVG dislikes about the program, but I wouldn't worry about it. It could be something as simple as the game creating registry keys or deleting files from particular folders..etc. It really depends on what rules AVG created, which without knowing how they wrote it or why.. could be anything. If they wanted they could write a rule that says any file that doesn't begin with a letter gets flagged if they wanted to. (I highly doubt they would of course). Typically a great many anti viruses would flag it over time if it was an issue. If you're unsure about a file I like to try sites like virustotal.com that use more than 50 AV engines to scan an item. Many of them will also note the first time they have seen a particular file and how long since it was last scanned.

  9. I mean as a programmer (in theory) I would make an installer include an uninstaller which checked for all added files. As a user I typically just run an install without uninstalling or manually deleting the folder/files most of the time. I dont typically uninstall, restart, install, restart like one really should. Too much effort ;)

  10. Actually, it makes sense if he reinstalled. A reinstall just overwrites any existing files, it doesn't delete files that have nothing to do with its own program.. which just happen to reside in the same directory *grin*

Glad you got it working at least

  11. Personally I would add all the .exe files yes. online is just the launcher, the actually game is PsoBB (normal) or PsOBw (wide). I have no idea what the other exes are off the top of my head. Generally speaking though, if two exes interact, they should be given the same privileges in scenarios like these.

  12. http://www.phantasystaronline.net/forum/index.php/topic/22843-getting-the-game-running/See if any of that helps.

Also what OS / SP are you running? Windows? 64 bit? 7? 8? 10? What anti virus/firewall programs?

Its interesting that you can get into the pre-game, so its most likely not a graphics issue, though it could be.

There is a small chance it could be a firewall issue, but again it doesnt seem likely since you were able to download/install the patch.

Possibly another active program is interfering? Had a guy the other day that had an issue with a graphics program called prism. I guess it was locking out the GPU or something. Can you shutdown everything non vital (including background processes from all users). Or try running it from safe mode (may require changing the res once you startup windows)?

  13. Well the prototype is.. more or less, ready. I'm looking for a handful of testers for the prototype. Hopefully the Mag Feed simulator is is functioning properly (though quite a few mag combos have yet to be tested). Along with a history of items fed..etc.

At this point I want to make sure it runs on a variety of systems. Feeds properly. If its so ugly that looking at it makes you want to throw your computer out a window and yourself out the other window on the far side of the house.. that sort of thing.

There are a lot of little various features that have yet to be added, like PBs/mag abilities, but I'll get around to them eventually.

  14. Nah you were pretty clear. Its just after digging through dozens of files, crawling through web page after webpage, reading post after post. My mind gets a bit worn down and my focus slightly divided. I just didnt catch it all the first time through. Which, naturally, only compounds the problem haha.

Alright, that does help clarify the terms and help me mentally separate it all out a bit. That is curious that bana can be gotten by a hunter, doesn't make it quite a special then. And since that 2 out of the 3 'special' force mags. Meh. So I guess that 3rd one probably can flip flop around the level 50 evolutions then.

Though I notice those sites leave out alot of the 'little' details. Like it says 45 def, but I think its actually 45+ def. Then again another site implies it only occurs at exactly level 50 based on a google image of a table of data I found. Ugh, I dont know.

Well, the way the under lying program is designed, I can't really effectively target a 'case' or evolution very easily. Usually if I can say get 1 level 50 evolution working, getting the next 50th evolution takes all of 5 minutes after that. Its just the variables level, class, sectionID..etc. are each measured. So I have to check A then B then C.. or C then A then B, the order doesnt matter. But once I check them, I have to do like the tables do and create an outcome for each possibility. Really in a nutshell it comes down to getting the first one working is usually the hardest part, after that its busy work getting the rest of them in order. Then with new features its back to the thought grind.

I also noticed on one of the PSO pages that it said (I think some of the levels or 100s, cant remember) were identical to another chart used. It then had a 'copy' of that chart below on the same page. However, looking at the two in depth showed them to be different even though they were said to be the same. I ended up making the two for now. Its a lot easier to go back later and change a 0 to 1 then it is to trace all the combos to figure out what chart it was supposed to be. So I am curious if there will be any errors there.

So when you feed a level 200 mag I assume it just changes sync? and evolution if the character class/sex changes?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the inquiring minds that want to know, the first couple of tests have already gone out. Right now the basic feeding/evolution seems to be on track, but every time I say that three things seem to break, so it'll be a bit longer before I start putting out 'stable' usable versions per say. At least a few more days. For those who have interest in it, its currently designed to work with the .net Framework 4.0. I could realistically create a framework 3.5 or 4.5 if needed, but ultimately it will need some version of the framework for the way its designed now and will continue to be designed for the foreseeable future.
