There could also be a downside leveling too fast as a new player. You will reach ultimate without proper gear because you haven't grinded enough to find any and you also might lack the skill to take on the ultimate mobs. But that is just my thoughts, I might be totally wrong.

La Dimenian in ep.2 v-hard drops Double Saber and De Rol Le v.hard ep.1 and Gal Gryphon ep.2 drops Mahu for Purplenum. Are you sure it wasn't those that gave you the drops?

I have the same experience as Fyrewolf5. There were also some individuals that tested this thoroughly on another server. So if not Ultima have done something special here, there seems to be a hidden and unknown activator for blizzard.
