I try to use the temp code as the old password and it tells me that the old passwords don't match

Whenever I try to use an Xbox 360 controller I get stuck in an infinite scrolling/walking loop in the game and only when I unplug it can I go through the menus/game with no problem. The thing is though that 1 of the 2 controllers that I tried was brand new out of the box and the other one was barely used and I can't seem to figure out how to fix the issue. Does anyone know what i can do to fix the issue? Or should I just use a mouse and keyboard?
