The vertical hole has a diameter of around 55 meters at the surface and the Abyss is at least 3,300 meters deep.
It possesses a unique ecosystem, wherein lie ancient and extraordinary relics that defy common sense.

The government sent a lot of determined hunters in order to unveil the secrets of the Abyss, but some of them never returned.

Many have challenged the mysterious abyss, pursuing hidden treasures and artifacts of immense value.

The Abyss is divided into at least 6 known layers.
The deeper, the more dangerous it gets.

Space and time also seem to be distorted in the depths.
Hence why each of those layers has a different hunter level restriction.

The Abyss is huge, in your quest you will only get to explore a very small part of each layer, so you might not meet many other people.

Various paranormal phenomenons have been observed in the Abyss.
There is a mysterious and invisible force that applies undesirable effects on adventurers upon specific conditions.
Those symptoms and triggers vary from a layer to another.
They are called the Curse of the Abyss.

There are only 6 known layers because going to the 6th means inevitable death.

You will find a lot more information about the different layers and their curses in the game quest board.

<s>The quest is not (and won't be) exactly finished.</s>

<s>It will get released in an unstable version in a few days because I have to gauge realtime difficulty, average time to complete it in 4 players teams, eventual issues etc.
So please</s> report any bugs you find in the quest.

I planned to make it a very long quest, telling the story of the Abyss, but I know many people don’t like long quests (in addition to the frustration of getting a late disconnection) so I made it much shorter than originally intended.
Thus it should take less than an hour to finish it (the worst ending that is).

Capital of The Unreturned is abbreviated CTU (Pronounced as "City U").

As you can guess, this is a tribute quest to Made In Abyss.

But no worries, there is no manga spoiler in the quest.

The quest storyline and stuff are mostly made up.

NEW QUEST - Caverns of Gloom

	Episode 1 Multiplayer Quest.

This is the first quest I've ever made, so this topic will probably exist mostly for bug reports.

Something has happened in the Caves, and you have to solve the matter immediately.

There is currently a bug in the quest that can prevent continuing the quest.

In Caves 2, when you get to the room that is completely dark, and 2 doors open up allowing you to go North and South, the south door leads to a warp that is blocked off by a green laser fence. This room will lock itself back when someone runs near the switch for the lasers, and is unlocked again by killing some enemies that spawn at the same time. Currently, If someone runs into that room with the laser switch again after those enemies are killed, it will lock the door back and prevent continuing the quest. Do not run back into the room with the laser fence switch after you hit it once. You can also put a pipe in the room with the laser fence and warp when it is unlocked the first time.

I have fixed the issue and sent Soly an updated file.

The timer does not stop until you talk to the quest giver at the end or when beating Falz.

The quest will take probably 40 minutes to 1 hour depending on the team. I solo'd in under an hour though, and 2p-4p should be much faster once everyone is familiar with the quest. And I've been told it's more like 1.5-2 hours, but that's probably just for people searching for secrets. It should not be that long. lol

Everything is 100% possible to solo, but for the last few (secret) areas, you'll need to be pretty strong to do so.

You don't get to return to P2 in between De Rol Le and the rest of the quest at first.

You will need to find all the secrets to get the secret area and 2nd ending. I'm sorry.

Shield shouldn't be unequipped after De Rol Le until you walk through the door.

Changed some dialogue to make things more consistent.

Reworked the laser room so there aren't weird collision issues. It's totally different now.

Repositioned one spawn in Caves 3.

Removed damage at start of Falz fight.

I unnerfed Gush slighty at Falz 3rd form.

Added some more dialogue, npcs, etc. to the good ending so it's just a bit more different.

Timer now will stop when you beat Falz or when you talk to the quest giver after beating De Rol Le. (If between bosses, you get a choice. If you stop it, the timer will be gone for the rest of the quest after you take a warp. Because at that point the quest is counted as cleared, but it is now possible to do more stuff at this point.)

Fixed some issues with the Normal mode Falz fight. (Because there is no last form, some stuff didn't happen correctly.)

Probably added a bunch of bugs too.

This time I made a quest in Ruins composed of two parts.
<s>The two are finished but only the first will be available for the time being.</s>

The second part requires a Crystal Badge to be played on Ultimate, make sure every member of your team has one in inventory before you start the quest.

Those Crystal Badges are the reward of the first part on Ultimate.

Hard and Very Hard are free to play but Normal is not available for obvious farming/unsealing reasons ...

I like to make big quests. However, I have noticed an issue when I reach certain numbers of entities/monsters in a quest and I want to see if I can identify what causes this limit to be reached or this issue to occur as it seems to differ with each occurrence.

	In more detail:
The issue is that when a certain number of entities(NPC's, Monsters, Objects, etc) are placed in a quest then saved, the quest becomes "corrupted" and the entities fail to load on the floor that reaches this limit, and that is true for all waves on that floor. However, this limit seems to vary based on the entities placed and it seems that some entities 'cost' more towards this limit than others, and some less.

	Examples:

My original quest where I hit this limit I found that I was able to place around a total of 1,780 monsters. Though there were many more entities in this quest than that number, I just haven't counted all the doors, boxes and triggers, and this count spanned multiple floors(Pioneer 2, Forest 2, Caves 3, Mines 3, Ruins 3, and the bosses associated). If I ever exceeded this count the waves on the floor that exceeded this count would never spawn.

In a testing quest where I have removed all entities from all floors, before placing nothing but rappies in Forest 1 to test, I fount that for some reason I was only able to place 1,448 rappies. This is significantly lower than the total entity count of my first quest and I am not sure why or what values contribute to this 'limit', as the above quest contains a variety of entities where this testing quest is nothing but rappies...

Why I am posting here is in hopes of answering the question of, "What is the entity limit for a quest? And what are to contributing factors for hitting this limit?", so that others, myself included, can reference this limit. So any input would really be great in helping identify this "entity limit" and what is causing the monsters to fail to spawn in when the only changes made to a quest is the number of entities, and not their event triggers.

	Technical Details:

Running a TethVer12513 client for all tests.

Editing quests using Phantasmal World, self hosted.(No differences found in entity limits when compiling in PW vs QEdit)

Using server software Newserv, same device that runs the client.

	My current, mostly uneducated theories:

Most likely hitting some kind of 32-bit limit of sorts, this is more of an overarching theory for the rest as I am pretty sure this is the case...

Limit caused by entity models, this one is unlikely I think as when hitting what I would call the "On-screen entity limit" I found the Teth client crashes to desktop instead of no waves spawning.

Limit caused by entity code, or some sort of code that the game uses to keep track of counts for the floor maybe? Though I am unsure on this point, even though I have seen issues where the game can have its memory values overflow into weird spaces(I have found that too many monests can cause random values to be flowed into Monster status effects and HP)

Possible server side limit, maybe the servers I have access to, Tethealla and Newserv, are unable to serve the stream of data to the client in a complete packet? This is however at the edge of my current knowledge of server-client technical knowledge though as I have only done work on non-game servers for most of my learning.

I learned/noticed yesterday night (10th November, 2022) that Shiida's Capital of the Unreturned quest narratively takes place in the same general region that this one does. The southern regions of Gal Da Val simply are prone to dangerous anomalies I guess, idk.

	Quest Details:

A party of three (3) were assigned to exterminate monsters that were swarming Gal Da Val Island's southern region. The Lab had suspected that if the rate of monster infestation were to continue growing, they could become a problem to other parties assigned to investigate other targeted zones of the island. Along with this party of three, the Lab had sent a specialized Cast with them to assist with the extermination assignment. The mission was projected to be cleared within the hour; and the party was projected to return within that same hour or the following hour at the very most. However, there was no word or communication between the dispatched party over the span of several hours. Not a single member of that party returned the Lab either which rose concerns.

Natasha Milarose directed several teams to band up and form a rescue search operation. The southern regions of Gal Da Val were vastly scanned on foot, by carriers and by radar. Hours go by and no reported findings made their way back to the Lab to the frustration and dismay of The Directrice. More time passes and one search team that traveled down to the deep south came upon a discovery that was reported immediately on sight. A tall ominous tower that was seemingly swallowed by the wilderness was reported within the deep, dense forest trenches. The origins of this tower are unknown and remained unsettlingly so. With this new information, Natasha posted up an urgent search mission where only experienced and equipped personnel could take the job. A crew member of the search team making this discovery planted a teleporter signal in the mouth of this tower before search teams made their way back to the Lab by the day's end.

This quest I was originally making for another server quite some time ago. However, it was quickly becoming too strong for the standards allowed before getting that far into it. Considering that, along with the sheer length the quest was aimed to be, there wasn't really anything I would have liked to have done with it. So, I set it aside and haven't ever looked at it again since January 5th of this year (2022).

After several banters at different times, one common thing was repeatedly mentioned and that was quests I've made being shared. Due to the quests available year round (Among other personal reasons), I refused sharing. After a few prods, instead of sharing work that I've done, I picked this abandoned project back up and dwelled in qedit for 2 weeks to which I then emerged with this quest in completed form.

The count down timer starts at 20 seconds. Each time you clear a wave you are rewarded additional time based on the area you are in. The times are in the table below. There are a total of 100 waves, 20 in each of the areas listed. Neither the number of players playing, nor the difficulty effects the time limit. You are rewarded meseta based on the number of waves you clear, the difficulty, and the number of players, following this formula: (250 * (difficulty + 1) * number_of_players * cleared_waves) such that the max value is 400,000 and the minimum value is 0. There is a helpful table below.

So if you know me, I've probably been ranting about the quest I've been building. Well, it's now in open beta (after much cursing), and available for all to download and run.
All I ask is that you give me credit for it if you decide to distribute\alter it.
Post your thoughts\feedback\suggestions on the quest here.

Before starting this quest, you need to know that if you get into a room with no way out, that is intentional.

	Hey, everybody.

Could someone with quest creation knowledge develop a quest that would be an ultimate boss rush, with every boss from Ep I, II and IV back to back, no mobs in between?

Personally I think it would be kickass.

Seems like something that would have been thought before many times. Any reason against it that is elluding me?

	Just an idea!

	Stay safe.

	Cheers.

So I've gotten quite a few requests for information on how to build quests. So this is an attempt to put everything I know down in one place for people who are interested in learning from my mistakes. Please understand that this is continually under construction, and subject to change at any time as I discover new things. Please, if I missed something point it out. I won't be (too) offended. If you have a question, others probably have the same one and are too shy to ask.

Software
To make a quest you need to have the proper software, or you will quickly get hopelessly lost if you don't give up right away. This section will be WAY too long if I include instructions on how to set up everything, so you'll need to go and find the rest of that on your own. What you will need is a working copy of QEdit, as well as a private server. You can get QEdit here or here. To get a private server up and running, I would advise looking at the Tethealla project here. You will want the private server clients to point to 127.0.0.1 as an IP address. This refers to your local computer, and since you will be running your server off that (or so this guide assumes) that will connect you with your test server.

Let's familiarize ourselves with QEdit now. When you first load it up, it will look like this.

The box on the left shows which floors are in use, and what map is assigned to them. The two boxes on top display all object objects and all monster objects on the selected floor. The box on the bottom displays a wire-frame of the selected floor's map. If that made no sense to you, don't worry. We haven't gotten to talk about how PSO is set up.

How PSO sets things up
Before we can dive in and start making things for PSO, we need to understand how PSO actually works. First thing that should be pointed out is that PSO was not created to be edited. Lots of things are unacceptable, and SEGA didn't exactly plan on letting other people mess with their game. This means that if you run into a bug, there will be no help from anything SEGA released. However, given the nature of the PSO community, a helpful website was created to organize all the great information that was found in the area of building custom quests... and then promptly dropped. I will be pulling data from that source, listed below, as well as from other places and my own tests.

Quests are made up of a combination of objects, map data, floors, map events, and pasm script combined together with a properties file. We will explore each of these separately in the subsections below.

Objects
Every entity on a given floor is an object. The boxes in Forest 1... objects. The doors in Ruins 3... objects. De Rol le... an object. QEdit helps us out here by separating and parsing the giant list of objects. It separates them into two categories; Objects and monsters. It then removes all illegal objects for the selected floor. This means that you can't put forest doors in the tower because that is an illegal placement dictated by PSO. Objects include everything other than NPC's and Monsters that can go on a given map. To add an object to a given floor in Qedit, simply press the "Add object" button. Then select the object you wish to add, and click "Add". The window will close, and the object will appear at 0,0,0 and move where you next click on the map. All objects have properties, each unique. To view and edit these properties, click on the object, either via the map or the object list, and press the "Edit data" button. I will put extended information on specific objects at the bottom of this page for reference.

Monsters are all NPC's and attackable monsters in the game, including bosses. These are just like objects, however they also have two wave numbers (keep these the same). We will discuss the wave numbers in more depth in the map events section. Different monsters have different values that can be changed. eg. Zol Gibbon has the option for Jump Appear, whereas a Sino Berill does not.

Floors
Each quest is made up of a given number of floors. These floors are assigned a map value from this table in the pasm script function 0 (we'll go over this a little later).

These floors then contain that map data, as well as all map event data, as well as object data. Each map assigns rooms a "Map Section" or "Room ID" number. Thus, a given monster\object is within a wave within room within a floor. To handle all the spawns, PSO uses what are called "map events". Each map event is assigned a number (by you) for easy organization. To create a map event, click the "View map event" button. It will open a window with a blank textbox. This textbox will display all your map events after you've made some. Enter the pound sign (#) and a number, then close the window. Reopen the window, and some code will be auto-generated for you. It should look like this:

#0
    Section: 0

    Delay: 0

The section value refers to the Room ID \ Map Section that you wish to trigger an event in. Wave corresponds to the wave number of monsters you wish to spawn. This and Section should be left at 0 if you do not wish to spawn any waves. Delay specifies how long to wait before spawning the monsters (this is how the delbiters are on a delayed spawn in raid on central tower). Delay uses frames as it's units. PSO is based at 30 frames per second. After this, you may add your own commands to be executed after the wave is defeated. If there is no wave to spawn, it will immediately run your commands. Below is a list of all the commands that I have found and how they work (Hurray for no documentation).

This command will unlock all locked doors with the property "Switch ID" set the the given number. There is as of yet no way to re-lock these doors that I have found yet, though it is possible. (I need to look at how Path to Salvation does this)

call <Wave>
This command will run the event with the given number. This is useful when you wish to spawn a wave after another wave finishes. If you wish to spawn 2 or more waves at once, simply string together the call commands for those waves, and wall of them will be run at the same time.

unhide <Room> <Wave>
This will reveal all hidden objects in the room specified with the Appear flag of <Wave>. Objects are hidden if their Appear flag property is set to anything over 0.

Script
This is the real kicker that turns people off to quest creation. The pasm script is the code that runs in the background that makes a quest function. This is what allows you to collect gold from the guild lady, talk with NPC's, warp to the correct location, run out of time, appear on the correct map, etc. In this section of the guide, I will go over the barebones function 0, and how to set a quest completion flag. I implore you to look at qedit.info and Rika's guides (found here). These resources have a HUGE amount of information on different commands and how to use them.

The more ☆ there are, the more you have to pay attention to the monster, I took into account the demand and value of the best drop, its rate and the current available quests to hunt (for instance there is only MA4's boring beginning for Glide hunt, 9-8, PoD for bosses, Today's rate and MA4's beginning again for mil lilies as the rare boost only affects first rooms and Girtablulus are hard to kill ...)

There are some good enemy drops I didn't mention because people don't care enough to hunt them so we need to make them more accessible like Kasami Bracer, DF Field, Flowen Sword 3084, Handgun Guld; Nei and Rika's Claw ...

Some even deserve to be spawned in giant amount like monsters which drop ID cards for instance, those drops are way too rare for not such good items.

I did not include ultima exclusive event drops like hidoom (godric) vol opt (glide v00) sinow beat (centurion/arms) morfos (psycho black crystal) deldepth (sue's coat) etc as it would be too much.

Of course, having several stars does not mean you shall put only a few of this monter in quest, but to split them, not to stack them in the first rooms / waves (which would make people repetitively spam the beginning of your quest, as most of people do in MA4DMD

So me and @orgodemir did some experimenting with Fog Collision SW objects.

F3 seems to determine what effect the object will emit. Here's a table. All the numbers that aren't listed remove the passive map fog. (e.g. They will remove Caves 1 orange glow). Function is the doorID\SwichID that toggle the fog on\off. So if you set Function to 3, the fog will turn off when you call "unlock 3" via map events. We only tested F3 values up to 201. If there's anything we missed, feel free to comment. Also, if anyone knows what F4 does, please share. We haven't had time to mess around with that yet.
