Advice for a new FO?

Greetings. In all my 300~ hours of playing this game, I have never seriously played as a Force. Back on the official servers all those years ago, I was young and the prospect of playing as a "squishy wizard" didn't really appeal to me. Now I'm a bit older and I'd like to give it a try. And who knows? If this thread really kicks off it might end up helping someone else down the line.

 

Right now I have my mind set on FOmarl, but there's plenty of time for me to change my mind. And yes, I have read the maximum stats guide and while it is nice to know what my endgame should be, I would like this thread to be more about the journey to get there.

 

So without further ado, here are my questions:

What attacking techs (foie, zonde, grantes, etc.) are worth using? (Obviously all support techs are useful)

What are some weapons/equips I should be on the look out for? Including lower-tier hard or v hard rares.

What stats should I prioritize on my Mag(s)? Are there any special mags that are particularly helpful to FOs?

 

And just any other general advice/tricks for playing as a FO. Try to keep in mind what may be common sense to veterans who have poured thousands of hours into this game may not be entirely obvious to more casual players like me. I'm not entirely new to this game (I have a lvl 160 char), but I'm still learning the ins and outs. More good FOs are a benefit for the whole community, I say.

An easier question than that would be What attacking techs are worth "not" using? And the answer Is Gibarta, which Is, just maybe, useful on FOmar

Jokes aside {again, just maybe :onion-head09:},

Every tech has Its place to be used. Even Gifoie does :onion-head71: (I have no Idea about Gibarta, honestly :onion-head81:)

But If what you want know which ones are mostly the best options, then the Ra techs are on the upper tier for hitting everything In range while dealing damage per second :onion120:

Gifoie Is good when you want to hit spawning monsters (If It's possible. You will notice how you deal 0 damage to certain spawing monsters :onion-head19:)
A good example are Dark Falz first phase with the spinners. Gotta make sure you can ohko with Gifoie so you can just move around and place a beacon (gifoie:onion-head65:) all around :D

Gizonde Is fast but only hits monsters ahead of you, so make sure you don't have any monster tracking from behind you xd

 

And finally, the basic techniques and Grants. These are great for just hitting one monster. Barta, though, It can hit anything on Its path :0

 

Megid, a ohko chance tech. You gotta know what monsters have low EDK :rf-08:

 

 

And finally, Important to say: If you want to deal damage with techs, you gotta know what are each monster's weakness, which you eventually find out as you play and test which of them elements deal the most damage :rf-12:

For the low tier ones, I can only think of the three elemental canes that grants 20% boost on their respective elements: Storm Wand Indra, Ice xx Dagon and Fire xx Agni :o

Armors and shields, there are:

Kroe's Sweater (descent ELT and EDK, +10 ATA), Love Heart (overall elemental resistance), Sweetheart (high defense and some ELT EDK resistance..), Ignition (fire)/Congeal (Ice)/Tempest (thunder) Coat(s) [30% element booster. Kind of like the Agni Dagon and Indra canes, but they are frames :) ]

 

Safety Heart, Red Ring, Three Seals [ra booster and 33 resistance to all elements], From the Depths (looks cool, good elemental resistance)

(there's gotta be more options)

 

I only mentioned the ones that are nothing related to events.

 

Obtainable from events there are:

 

Sacred Bow [second highest ATP of the server, I think. Special Is Hell], Lindcray (Close to as high as Sacred Bow, Resta Anti range extender by 100%, Spirit Special), Banana Cannon [AoE combo unlocked deals high damage. Special Is Blizzard], Fire Rod (a flame/burning visit with saber animation. Spirit Special to wreck De Rol Le/Dal Ra Lie or Barba Ray (If you get the chance on Barba Ray:rf-08:), or even Olga Flow first phaze :rf-12:), Ten Years Blade (Twin Swords, really strong, can redeem to add a special), Samba Fiesta [mechgun animation with special bullets [I think? xD], demon special], Quasar Staff [Barta Gizonde Rafoie booster, stronk], Dark Bridge [The best Grants booster, Zalure range extender and Megid by 100%], Psycho Bridge (Upgraded version of Psycho Wand, Rabarta boost Is slightly higher than Razonde and Rafoie), Tyrfing (Geist Special, Twin Sword, purple transparent color :D ), Rage de Glace (mechguns close to as strong as Guld Milla, Blizzard Special, mechgun with the highest ATA), Ultima Bringer's [Bringer's Rifle. Cannot spoil :x]

 

Hylian Shield [100% Grants booster, 75% Rafoie booster and 60% Razonde booster], Ganondorf Shield [65% Rabarta booster, ATA and LCK 20 bonus stat], Red Ring Costumes by using Halo Rappy Souls [Frank the Bunny (Jellen Zalure range extender by 100%), Cat Scratch (Shifta Deband range extender by 100%), Guardian Angel (Resta Anti range extender by 100%), Ylvis (+20EDK, -5ELT), Bewbs (Trap Vision), Minecraft (Megid range extender by 100%)], Ali's Resolve (35% basic tech booster), Agent K Costume [FOmarl exclusive, It's a Rico's Glasses cladding In Red Ring stats with bonus Included along Ylvis and Bewbs additions together], Neutron Skin [Resta range extender by 100%, MST: 250]

It all depends on what's the Max Stat plan you're running for, and depending on It, you migh also need to raise MIND either way (unless It's the no unit plan with a normal mag with 5 defense :D 

 

If assuming the No Unit plan, the mag should reach 71 DEX and like 126 POW. Reaching level 200, ATP and ATA stats will be maxed :onion-head01: (and also remember to raise luck with 35 materials ;) )

Thank you Kotta, this is really helpful information. I especially like how you separated the event-exclusive items to their own category, since those will be harder for casuals like me to get.
