Midori's Controls

Recommended Posts

Controls are very important to me and I talk about them a lot. For those who were wondering how I have my controller set up, this topic may be useful to you. These are for FOnewearl, by the way. Thanks to having my controls set up this way, I can pretty much do anything and do it very fast.

Midori I read before that you prefer to have it all configured on your controller and that setup is indeed very interesting. I play a lot more oldschool style. Some of the console controlls are still in use by me today.

I still use the quick menu (R1+Triangle) for casting some techs (S/D/J/Z). One would think casting J/Z would be more efficient with regular buttons or hotkeys this is something I will not change as I have been doing it this way for 15 years and changing the way to cast those just won't work for me (I tried). I guess it's like driving stick or automatic. Once you're used to stick you don't change to automatic even if it doesn't really make sense.

Here is my setup for my Foney:
palette left: Rafoie
palette middle: Razonde
palette right: Rabarta

alt palette left: Trifluids
alt palette middle: Anti
alt palette right: Resta

Shortcut menu:
very top: Deband
2nd from top: Shifta
3rd frin top: Reverser
bottom: Jellen
2nd from bottom: Zalure
3rd from bottom: Ryuker

For when I'm lazy and don't want to use the keyboard this will get me through a game without much trouble. But for all access play I have the following keyboard configuration:

IMPORTANT: I use the number block to use shortcuts, it can be used when numlock is deactivated and keyboard controlls are turned off (not sure if that is necessary). I will simply shift my right hand from the controller to the numpad. On there I have all the attack techs setup. It's also nice since holding a number will act as a "turbo" for techs and you will cast as fast a possible when holding down a key.
I have all Foie set to 1 (single), 4 (gi), 7 (ra), all Zonde on 2, 5 and 8 and Barta on 3, and 9. Only tech not always available is Gibarta on 6 since I put Grants on there... and 0 is Resta.

When you say app do you mean JoyToKey? And by arrow keys do you mean the arrow keys on the keyboard? When you open JoyToKey, it somehow causes the arrow keys on your keyboard to stop working? If that's the case, that's very strange to me and I have no idea why it's doing that.

yeah haha i mean the JoyToKey programm

na i mean the arrow keys on the controller (im not sure if theyre called that way)

for example i set arrow key up as (6 = Trimate)

and down as (5 = Dimate)

then i wanted continue watching one piece (so JoyToKey went to background)

then i realized that up and down button wont work anymore (worked before.. tested them)

ok edit: ive googled and its called D-Pad not arrow key XD

@Nightmare2.0

OK. I think I know what's going on. Since JoyToKey works by letting you use keyboard keys from your controller, it has to follow the same rules as keyboard. You know how the keyboard will only affect a program when that program is the active window? It's the same thing for JoyToKey because you are basically using the keyboard from your controller.

In other words, after you open your One Piece video, select PSO again so it becomes the active window. Then your JoyToKey controls should work again.

I don't use a controller and don't intend to, but if i ever did I would probably test this out. Thanks for sharing it :)
