Solved. Turns out both problems were a result of having a very outdated game! Thanks guys!

Hi All, I didn't play for a few months and when I came back I noticed I have a bunch of different items (in bank and inventory) that I don't remember having. Based on the stats of the items they are not what they say they are. It looks like just their name changed, but it changed into something still in the same category (weapon, armor, shield). One that is very apparent is my Meteor Smash is now called a Rifle, but still looks and works like a Meteor smash. I also lose connection after about 10min of playing now. I'm thinking maybe the two issues are linked somehow. Any Ideas? Thanks
