Hello lovely people of Ultima! I was chilling with my 7 years old daughter today when she said "Daddy why don't we play the game with the light swords and the big birds?" So I popped the patcher. Started the game. I have been away for roughly a year. 10 seconds in, I missed you, Ultima!! I remember how awesome this community here. I remember how Lemon was SUPER MEGA NICE and helpful to me! It's good to play again! So I load a mission, step into the caves and 4/5 lilies I encounter are rares. My question then: Have the rules on this server changed in the last year? OH MY GOD you have a discord server!! I'm so in! (As soon as I'm done playing)

I got 5 crystals on one normal run, thank you. That quest is indeed mad, but fun. I spend my 5 crystals, ran Black Paler Deal 5 times in a row, only got Meseta each and every time. Is this the norm or is my luck really rotten? Because If I ignore the gear people have given me so far, I'd be stuck with a LV 126 RAmarl trying to poke things with a JUSTY-23ST. I litteraly CAN'T get anything. I'm all for earning my glory but I'm starting to think that the servers just wants to see me fail

So grinding in EP4 will be necessary to find Crystals. Do they drop reasonably often? I really need to get acquainted with EP4... Thank you Lemon!

How do you access the Deal with Black Paper quests? Do they require photon crystals like PSO-World claims they do? Thanks!

My daughter really, REALLY loves watching me play PSO. In my car, I have a playlist of various game songs and when the Pinoeer 2 City theme played today, she was all "Daddy! It's the game we play!" So today she was watching me some more and she noted that Rappies don't do as the other monsters: they don't vanish in a pool of purple blarg but instead they play dead. She then saw a rappy take of and vanish beyond the screen but she didn't realise that the rappy was gone for good so, she just went: "Rappy... raaaaappyyyy.... where are youuuu? We're stronger than you rappy. Raappyyy.... Are you playing a game? Raaaaaappyyy..... WE'RE GONNA KILL YOU RAPPY!" I was scared. A bit. Can't wait to see her roll her first PSO character.

Makes sense. Besides, with a high level char, Normal or VHard, same difference: enemies are made out of jello ;-)

Actually the mistake was mine. Vypor's guide (now that I read it and paid REAL attention to it) tells you to do the -Single Player mode- quests and THEN do the -Normal MODE- quest. Nowhere in his guide is there a question of difficulty, meaning you can do it at the difficulty you wish. Also, I just confirmed: doing a mission at a difficulty level flags it as "DONE" on all difficulty missions. Dunno if that will be useful info to anyone but there it is.

The awesome and humorous guide you guys have here that tells us how to convert enemy parts into weapons tells us to do it on normal. Any special reason? I'm about to do just about every quest I can on very Hard because it's more fun and obviously more exp. Will I get the same results?

Thanks Lemon! I just checked the drop tables for my chars. Tollaw has a 1/300 chance of dropping me a Red Handgun during happy hours so that's cool. My hunter is on Redria and it's easy to get a CURE/SHOCK there so that would alleviate a LOT of frustration. I think I'll also do all the quests I can in VH mode just to learn them. I just read the guides and apparently there are quests with very nifty rewards other than the run-of-the-mill 3000 Meseta.

Well, Keliwen's story is growing thin and weak. Apologies in advance if this post is not has humorous as my previous ones, we're all allowed to have a bad day once in a while, I think. When I used to play PSO on the GC, the progression between N-H-VH-ULT was linear and smooth. This of course meant that by level 110 you could destroy EVERYTHING and the remaining 90 levels were a waste. Ultima chose to buff ULT to make it worth levelling to 200. However, the gap between the point where "VH is still ok EXP even though I can obliterate everything" and "Things no longer one-shot me and I can kill a room in less that half an hour on ULT", is well... it's too long. Keliwen is level 121 or 122 now and I find myself restrained to the Forest. I can't kill the dragon on my own and the Cave's monsters take too long to kill. I'm not going to play EP2 and 4 on VH, the idea of clearing the same whole map 6 times to get one level doesn't really appeal to me. I'm still stuck with sub-par gear because the GOOD Ult stuff only drop in later stages. I remember my GC RAcaseal having found a Red Handgun on her own but here, I have my Frozen shooter and the Needle shot a friend gave me. Group? I'd LOVE to. 19/20 ULT games i see are locked, the other one is full. I start an open game, two level 92 join "run me TTF please". So yeah. I thought "I'll try EP2. Maybe it will be slower but hey, it's Happy Hour, maybe I'll get lucky." Megid...die. Megid...die. Megid...die. Shock stun-lock... die. Megid...die. Shock stun lock...die. I dunno. Maybe I'm better at writing stories then I am at playing them. Meanwhile, my low level chars are getting a lot of love. Until they get to Ult. The moral of this post? I have no idea. I need a hug?

I know the place well, I played through EP2 countless times offline on GC, though offline you had to go through the whole deal everytime. However, since Ultima's "CCA" was so popular, I figured it meant some sort of awesome quest named after it. Right. So that's what people meant by "did you unlock it". Because I have looked up and down, left and right and I could never, ever find "those quests that unlocked that mysterious CCA, whatever it was". So now all I need is to find people to trek through the three sub-zones with me to unlock it. Thank you my good sir!

What's CCA, why do people always do it and who do I need to bribe to have some? (I make it sound like an illegal substance)

My level 60ish hunter is Redria. 15 mins, 12 addslots. Arek, you rocked my world.

Best/easiest way to get addslots? I got me a 2-slot Guardwave that begs to be worn. Though with some farming I can probably get me a 4 slotted one...

Yup that one I already found and studied quite well. So, how do I use this Halo of Rappy thingy? And to hell with ULT.... the dude who figured that one-shot lilies were cool should be relocated to sanitation. I think that in my half hour of play I spent ten solid minutes looking at the teleport animation.

Does Ultma have a database or wiki or some equivalent regarding the Ultima-exclusive content? Can't really use PSO-World for an item that was invented here. And in the same topic: What does a Halo of Rappy do and should I be excited to have found one? ;-)

Well in the EP2 menu, you have two choices: ULTIMA, which returns an error because you are in One player mode, and the other options which looked like the regular offline quests. I grabbed the one at the top of the list. Oh and I tried PPP, seeing it was made by you but it told me to shove off and go make friends. I was heartbroken, seeing I was denied awesomeness.

Yesterday I tried playing a ONE PLAYER MODE ep2 quest. The quest loaded in memory but instead of a normal behaviour, I got a close-up Quest lobby lady, along with her funky square hairdo and her exaggerated cleavage and she told me "You need to progress further before playing this quest." Is that innuendo for me to buy her flowers and take her on a date on one of Pioneer 2's classiest restaurants? I know a place where the boota steak is just awesome but the waiter has a terrible accent. Anyways. How do I "progress further"?

You thought I was done? Well you thought wrong! No one stops the pointless story train! (Except mods, admins, tornadoes, volcanoes, lost passwords, alien attacks, lack of internet access or outrageous sleep deprivation). So I did my first real PSO mistake. I was playing Morfaust, my level 60-something hunter, soloing a hard TTF when I thought "This Vjaya with no percentages feels a little underwhelming, don't I have a shiny Dragon Slayer with pretty numbers in my bank?" And I did, and I grabbed it. Then I went to the store and sold all the trash I had, including the 2.0483e24 Diska of Liberator that Redria gets on hard mode whenever you do something riskier that the dishes. So... I SOLD ALL THESE MOTHERDISKERS AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT. Then went my way to start my TTF. Swap to weapon panel... wait, where's my shiny 35/25/0/0/0 Dragon Slayer? Gone. With the Diskas. I tried to argue with the shopkeeper but since it has the AI of a winter tire, it was all in vain. I know, I know, you're all "But Aero, it's a common rare! A piece of junk! I have 56 of those in my bank! Why aren't you cool like me and use a SATELLITE OBLITERATOR +98 with 80/70/34/PI/22?" Well, let me explain. It was a sword given to me by my dear mother. It had a lovely inscription on it too. "Son, if you sell this to a merchant, I swear to Falz I'll feed monofluids to your power mag until it pukes TPs." My mag has been leaving little nervous puddles everywhere and I have not had a decent night of sleep ever since. It's ok. The universe was balanced when I finally was able to team up with some of you, notably @Lemon who has since rocked my PSO world with amazing quests and fantastic times. I also learned that I do not know all of PSO yet. I mean, I have played this game on GameCube for an ungodly number of hours but there is apparently much not included on that version. Lemon brought me to a nice round towery place. I spent the first few seconds being in ABSOLUTE TOTAL AWE in front of this new, refreshing PSO scene. Imagine that. A game I have been playing since launch suddenly has NEW content for me. Wow. And then this "Ill Gill" dude appeared. Why is he looking at me? Hey wait, WAIT! *multiple headshots, explosions and overkill depixalisations* When Lemon said "You'll die hard but it will be fun", Lemon was right. For the first part at least. So we left this tantalizing new tower behind (for now) and we went to the forest for some more wacky insane PEST CONTROL! All my characters are progressing well and I'm slowly taming EP4 which is a gorgeous piece of love filled with legacy Phantasy Star themes that I already remixed. I'm soooo in love. I sincerely hope that my story is not close to an end, this is the PSO life I have always been asking for.
