      mathrock generally deals a little more with your non traditional time signatures, while prog also steps out of the norm its not quite as often. plus prog has a few more branches going into prog metal, prog rock, some would even consider soft djent a form of prog metal.

      Yea, it reminds me alot of Tool, or Mudvayne perhaps, as some would argue they are "mathrock/mathmetal" from over the years.  Agreed, the list of sub genres of metal and even prog is pretty long, it's why I love that stuff so much.  It's where talent always tends to prevail and always stays interesting as it ever evolves into something... Else?  In just about any decade or style, as shown above. ^_^  So who else do you listen to in the vast genres of metal and prog Selah?  :)   I'm metal/prog head from waaaayyyyy back, so I'm always on the lookout for new bands of said genres.  Being a musician myself since probably about... 6th grade, haha, playing trumpet and later guitar and bass, it's a very driving force and source of inspiration for me.

      Im really into alot of modern prog like plini intervals sithu aye aura of birth stuff along those lines. Im a guitar player myself as well as violin. My tastes in music are all over the place though
