  1. OK, thanks guys. No problem. Presumably the guy couldn't answer as he didn't speak English. I'm just glad it wasn't a hacker!
  2. It was a blue name. I guess the main strange thing was that the guy didn't seem to want to answer any questions, but maybe he couldn't as he didn't know any english. If they had popped in and said "just checking the server" or something then that would have been fine. Yeah, this is what I thought would be the case which is why we were a little worried about hackers. At the time I thought it was odd that the guy wouldn't answer any questions? Are you a GM...etc, but then I realised that they might only speak spanish, that's why they couldn't respond. I know a very small amount of spanish, so I might have been able to reply. It was a blue name called link (lower-case I think), that's all we can remember, I really don't know who it could have been. Whoever it was, it wasn't a major deal. It kind of spoilt our game for the day as my friend wanted to quit then, so I only played for a little while later, but no biggie. If something like this were to happen, again, what should I do? Assume everything is safe and just keep playing? I can possibly talk to the GM in a small amount of Spanish if need be -- really basic stuff. Are there any other languages that the GM's use?
  3. Hey guys, myself and a friend were playing in a locked game when suddenly someone called Link joined in. Being unused to uninvited people joining our party we were worried about hackers, especially as this player was only lv 25, so we quit out. Then we thought, hang on, it's a triforce event and the guy was called link so maybe it was an event thing. OK, so we made a new game and this person joined back in? This time I asked do you want to play, and are you a GM, but I got no response. I then asked if they were a hacker and got a blank bubble response or something. Now I'm thinking that this person maybe have been a Spanish speaking GM or something. It was a bit odd to be honest. So, can I ask, do GM's join passworded games regularly at a low level in order to play? Is this something we should expect in the future? If so, and that GM is reading I did not know that you didn't understand any english. No offense intended, it seemed like you were a griefer to us.
  4. Thanks for highlighting my post, Larva. I've been using the pack for 30ish hours in PSO, and no major problems so far. Also, Major Tom on the Schtack forums gave me permission to publish the pack download link as long as he's credited for his work, which is all sound effects changes and the non-multi-stream oggs (I only needed to fill in the loop_start info). More details in the link above. Major Tom is also free to take any of my work (mainly the multi-stream oggs) and incorporate them into his pack for linking on Schtack or wherever. I hope this proves useful to somebody.
  5. On a related note, for those with XP who can't alter the volume levels, I modified Major Tom's Shut The F***K Up soundpack (SCHT forum) for my personal use on PSOBB Ultima. This pack reduces the volume by 15dB. Sound effects are exactly as found in Major Tom's great pack. For the non-multi-stream ogg files I filled in the loop_start information myself, which was absent. I also had to redo the multi-stream oggs using FooBar2000 and the equalizer as they were not encoded multi-stream. Most of the credit for this pack goes to Major Tom: http://www.schtserv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=44029 As I say, I just filled in the missing loop_start info and redid those tracks starting with slbgm... Here is the download if anyone wants it from my Dropbox (hope this is ok...rarely use dropbox for linking to stuff.) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30011618/PSOBB%20Reduced%20Volume%20Pack.zip Hopefully I'm allowed to provide this. I have given Major Tom full credit for his work. I'll PM him, though just in case. The multi-streams seem to work well, although occasionally the links to the next piece of music seem a little off. Not much I can do to fix this, I just hacked these oggs out using Foobar, I don't know that much about audio encoding. It works well enough for my own use. Oh, to install just replace the ogg and sound folders in your PSOBB directory with the new ones. Remember to keep a copy of the old ones as a backup just in case. Cheers! Oh, lobby music is the same volume, as that is presumably going to change during updates.
